    Agreed. I am not so sure they win the cup that year if that day turned out differently. I also think Vladdy was the catalyst for the 98 cup win. The team seemed to underchieve the following 3 seasons without the extra motivation until they loaded up with a HOF roster in 02 that couldnt lose. How do they feel about Todd Bertuzzi? Pretty sure I know the answer already. So he's a capitalist? That's shameful

    Losing to a superior team is fine. But if this team is going to lose, I don't want it to be because they didnt try, that they've accepted being a loser. I want guys on this team to come out every night expecting to win, even if they don't. Playing that way is going to get you wins now and then against better teams that you dont expect. You cant win later with kids who dont want to win now.

    4 of them are above .500 against NHL competition. Edmonton is basically at .500. No AHL team could accomplish that against NHL competition. The Wings would for sure lose a 7 game series against VGK, SJS, and CAL. AZ, EDM, and VAN would be closer, but the Wings still lose. The only 2 teams they could realistically beat is ANA and LAK.

    No point in arguing. We're getting a really good player in the draft and it most likely won't be Hughes. Nothing to argue here.

    Actually I think I'm the one being realistic here. 82% is far more realistic than 18. Anyway, its not being pessimistic to say it. We didnt win the Dahlin sweepstakes last year but got a heck of a good player anyway at 6th. And we most likely arent getting the 1st overall this year either, which means no Hughes. That doesnt mean we arent still getting really good franchise player anyway. You dont have to think we're getting Hughes to still be optimistic about the draft.

    So you're telling me that there are teams in the NHL who havent had to go thru a losing phase (either thru a rebuild or by being an expansion team) other than Vegas? Please enlighten me.

    Hey, I was excited about Zadina despite picking 6th. If we got Hughes, I would be elated. But let's be real here. The odds, at best, are only 18% that it happens. Just sayin.

    I never understood this. Wasn't his play with Halifax what got him ranked the 3rd best player in the draft in the first place? He was heavily scouted by every NHL team at that point. Why weren't they seeing what mackel was seeing?
