Its the thread title. No one gets it, but they feel like they should.

Imagine what the haul would have been for Mrazek if he was traded 2 years earlier than he was. Not comparing AA's talent to Mrazeks, but if you believe he's not a long term threat, you have to look at moving him for help on D while he's at his highest value. I just don't seem him as a top 6 scoring threat long term, and I don't want to see Holland lock him into a long term contract because of it. The other kids look more like long term solutions, which is why AA is the odd man out for me.

Agreed. AA has the smallest window. They need to trade him while his value is at its highest. My concern is that Holland signs him to an Abby like contract and we're stuck with him after he ceases to be a scoring threat.

What difference dies it make tho? Its a one yr deal and we arent making the playoffs next season. His contract isnt hurting the team at all in cap terms, so how is it a waste of money? The Wings had no starting goalie for next season and they just signed a 2 time NHL All Star veteran goaltender to a 1 year deal at 4 mil. With no NTC. I just cant find anyway to hate this deal unless u just hate Howard and that's your only reason.

Goalie drafting and development just isnt a priority anymore. There are only a few elite guys anymore, but a lot of really good ones. That can be gotten via free agency. Please explain how this is bad. We dont have a starting goalie without signing one. Howard on a short-term, cheap deal seems like a win. What am I missing?
