No. I said we don't know because it was never an option. Also I think the comments by Draper were more about moving away from the "overripe" mentality which existed for years, which a rebuilding team can't afford to do. The idea that you can expedite development is ludicrous. And I don't think that's what he was inferring, just that the team is moving away from keeping kids down longer than necessary and bringing them in as soon as they are ready.

NHL roster spots arent always filled by "Who are the the best 23 guys under contract?" Moose could very well have been better than Ehn, Frk, etc. But if its better for his development to log big minutes in GR than bottom 6 minutes in Detroit, than it would make sense to send him down. That was never a choice, so we'll never know for sure if that's what would have happened. The team obviously felt that getting sheltered minutes in the NHL was better than sending him back to juniors, which is why he is up now. But based on past history with this team, I don't think its a stretch at all to think he would have started the season in GR.

Someone like Kronwall doesnt get traded every year. Vanek was. Not his fault. Can't give a lot to any team under those circumstances. Are you saying that because he wasnt fortunate enough to play for one team his whole career, he doesnt deserve the same courtesy? I think he does.

He asked for the NTC because he was tired of getting traded every TDL. Can't blame him for that. And Holland wasn't out of line to give it to him in this case. The return would have been insignificant anyway. And sometimes making a small team sacrifice to benefit a player is not only the right thing to do, it gives the organization and its management a good reputation among the other players in the league. If you don't see the value in that, think about it. Also, we aren't talking about objects or property here. We're talking about people. We should be glad that at least one GM hasn't forgotten that, even tho so many fans have.

Blashill isn't a playoff coach like Babcock. He isn't a regular season coach like Bruce Boudreau. He's a developmental coach. His wins and losses are irrelevant. What matters is how the kids progress. Although I would like to see more out of Mantha. I think he did a great job with Bert, Larkin, AA, and Jensen. I see Cholowski and Hronek getting better. Jury's still out on Moose, tho.
