THe NBA and MLB cannot end games in ties, so a point system is meaningless since all games are either won or lost. Hence, a team's win/loss record is used. NFL games can end in ties, but it's rare, And since the league only plays 16 games a season, a points system is unnecessary. The NHL plays an 82 game season where games can end in ties, Also, games can give out the teams who played in it 0, 1, or 2 points, depending on the outcome. I have too many LOL. Plus putting a player name on a jersey that isn't one the Wings actually use just seems weird to me. I would love a Larkin jersey for example, but putting his name and number on a baby blue Wings jersey just doesn't seem right. At some point, I'll probably start a "Post your Wings Jersey" thread. I would be interested to see what the rest of you out there wear to support the team.

Just my 2 cents on roster decisions. On D: Green (when healthy), Daley, DK, E, Kronwall, Jensen, Cholowski. Being that Green is out to start the season, there's another spot open. I can't decide, as I feel like each guy has equal pros and cons. Hicketts: Depth defenseman. Not much more developing, heavy ice time isn't necessary. Feel comfortable with him on the roster over the others if it's a 7th/spare D kinda thing. Deserves it over Hronek, equally as much as Sulak. Another lefty tho. Hronek: One year experience at the pro level. Will still get better with more developing. Needs to be in the top 4 if on the roster, not scratched or on the bench. Hasn't played as well as Hicketts or Sulak. Gives the D another RH shot/passer. Sulak: Preseason is first taste of high level hockey. Played as well as Hicketts, better than Hronek. At 25, has developed slowly, a late bloomer? Could probably be used as 4-7 D to finish development. Another Lefty,which the D already has plenty of. Who would I pick? It's between Hicketts and Sulak. Hicketts really has no more developing to do, so sending him down wouldn't really help. Sulak, on the other hand, could probably use some AAA level experience before being brought up full time. I guess I would start the season with Hicketts on the roster in the 7th spot, and bring up Sulak throughout the season when the inevitable injuries hit with an older defense.Keep Hronek on the top pair D in GR for the season and re-evaluate next summer. At F, I think there are 2 spots open. Rass has one of them. Between Svech and Zadina for the 2nd, I would go Svech. Zadina can be sent to GR, and would probably benefit from playing big minutes against men to boost his confidence. Bring him up next season. Svech at this point is done developing at the AHL level. He has played better than Zadina in the preseason, and with a lower ceiling than Zadina (middle 6 winger), can afford to be given fewer minutes (bottom 6) at the NHL level without harming his development as much. So I would go with Svech here. Any coach that makes roster decisions based on salary, shouldn't be earning one at the NHL level.

Looks like Cholowski is a lock to make the roster. Hronek, Hicketts, and Sulak fighting for the other spot. Also, Rass is in. Svech and Zadina fighting for the other F spot. I would go Svech.

Lightweight. I own 30 Wings jerseys/sweaters (accumulated over 20+ years). All but a handful are variants of each other. It's amazing how many different Wings jerseys there are out there. I've even accidentally ordered duplicates not realizing that I already had it. I had 2 Datsyuk jerseys from the last Winter Classic until I a gave one to my GF so that we could match at Training Camp. (Cheesy, I know...whatever makes them happy, right?)

Cho-low(as in loud)-ski I was wondering the same about Hronek and Saarajarvi, heard them pronounced differently too. I've heard Hronek rhyme with chronic (my favorite) and H-row(like a boat)-nick. And Say-yar-uh-yar-vee and Say-yar-uh-harvey. Either way, he sounds like a pirate. Friends don't let friends become sweet leaf fanatics.

I know you didn't ask me, but....with Larkin as the consensus 1C and Veleno looking to be the future 2C, I see Rass slotting in as a LW on one of the top 2 lines most nights, with the occasional 2C duties when there's an injury or back to back games.
