11/30_GDT_No Rat and No Pied Piper_Wings vs Bruins_8:00 PEI Time

Not really comparable. DeBrusk has better numbers, is a regular in the lineup, more NHL experience and will cost more to obtain. Fabbri had weaker numbers at the time, much less experience, and wasnt getting much ice time. He was more of an unknown and a bigger gamble. -

1. Redundancy. 2. Trading pending UFAs for draft picks is what rebuilding teams do. -
You guys and your player nicknames is revolutionary.

It would take a lot more than that. Bruins arent trading a young RFA for pending UFAs. Cmon man. -
Works out great for both teams
-
I would avoid Kane like a spitting cobra.
-
Anyone born in the US is American by law. That's kinda how it works.
-
Since he was signed as a RFA, doesnt Carolina have to pay him more on his next contract until he's UFA eligible?
-
Pretty sure that makes him Swrdish.

Seider, Edvinsson, Hronek = 3 of our long term top 4. You only need one of Johansson, Wallinder, Cotton, Buium, McIsaac, Sebrango, Tuomisto, Viro, etc to develop into another top 4 D. That is almost a certainty that one of them will. There is zero need to bring in an 8 million dollar, 28 year old defenseman.
-
We most likely already have our top 4 dmen. They are all much younger than Lindholm. And much cheaper. This would be a terrible signing for SY as he would be overpaying for a position he doesnt need to fill.
-
Zadina has not lived up to expectations. I dont think that's even debatable. But he is still an NHL regular with a middle six forward skill set. He is outperforming players drafted ahead of him, and his level of play is consistent with other players drafted at 6th overall. Can we move on from this pointless debate now?
-
And then how do you expect to pay Seider, Edvinsson, Johansson and Hronek who will all finish their restricted free agency and be ready for their own big deals before Lindholms is up?

So apparently the IIHF will decide by Thursday if the Chinese National Team will be able to compete at the Olympics. The home countries are usually given an automatic berth, but China is ranked 32nd in the world and in the same division as the US, Canada, and Germany at the Olympics. The concern is that they will be humiliated by the vastly superior competition (fine by me). If China is removed, they will be replaced by the highest ranking national team that did not qualify, Norway. Interesting footnote. If allowed by the IIHF, Former Red Wing Alum Ryan Sproul and Jake Chelios will be competing for the Chinese team. With one caveat. China does not recognize dual citizenship. So anyone who wants to represent the team must give up their foreign passports for a Chinese one. At least temporarily. Lol. -
Good to see you back Mabus. Dont worry. SY will get a 1st for him at the TDL from Holland.
-
So basically, if I'm lazy at my job, don't want to work, and have a bad attitude, its my manager's fault. Got it.
-
Just don't let him dogsled.

Svech: Average player. Not particularly good at anything. Can play wing up and down the lineup. Just like Fabbri, Ras, Namesnikov, Veleno, Erne. But unlike the first 4, he can't play center or take faceoffs to my knowledge. Completely redundant and replaceable player. Rowney, Smith: Big bodies brought in to throw their weight around. Not Svech's role. Stephens, Gagner: RH bottom 6 forwards, who can play wing or center and take faceoffs. Gagner provides veteran leadership. Svech is neither RH, nor a veteran. SY doesnt just see positions. He has certain roles he wants on his roster and he brings in guys to fill them. Svech filled a redundant role, not one of need. That is why other players were signed instead of him, regardless of how GOOD you think they are.

What else is there to do?
-
He is a "placeholder". If he is a good HC, SY will keep him on after the the rebuild is done. I doubt that happens.
