That has been a criticism about him for a while now. It comes from coaches, analysts, broadcasters, sports journalists, etc. Let's try not to pretend that all of this is just being made up. If he wasn't doing it, nobody would be talking about it. He does it, and it needs to be corrected. To be fair, AA doesn't suck. He has the potential to top out as a 2nd line winger IMO.Although I think its more likely he's a middle 6 guy. Like Helm, I don't see him as a natural center, although he may be able to contribute there from time to time. I also believe that he could be a much BETTER player if he would be more willing to listen to coaching and work on playing a more well rounded 200 foot game. I want AA to change his ways because I want him to be a better hockey player, to succeed. We should all want that. My criticism of him is based on the fear that he won't learn and continue to cheat on D, relying almost entirely on his speed to survive. Speed doesn't last forever, and if he doesn't learn to contribute more in other areas, his NHL career may end up being shorter than any of us (AA included) would like it to be.

I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I gave stats/facts regarding AA and that was met with "weak argument". I then repeated well known criticisms about AA's game and the response was "you're talking out of your ass." I gave facts. I didnt make any of it up. Its all out there and available to anyone. Its not my fault if you choose to ignore it and dismiss it "cuz Z". Thats not debating, neither is replying "exactly" or "that's how you debate" or "you got pwned". Maybe try actually participating in the discussion instead of jumping onto someone else's posts. I'd be interested to know what you think.

Larkin, Mantha, Zadina, AA: : That doesn't excuse AA from not playing a 2 way game, nor is it an excuse for being selfish. He needs to play some defense like every other forward on the team. He may have a higher ceiling, but that doesn't make him 3rd or 4th best now. He has a lot to learn and he will never reach that potential if he continues to be one dimensional. Because he has "potential". His trade value will start to go down if he doesn't wise up. PLaying D isn't entertaining, but You can't win without it. AA may be entertaining to watch, but that doesn't win you any games.

You're right. They do nothing to benefit AA, which is exactly why he does them. And do I really have to post statistical evidence to support what I thought was common knowledge? The more a player focuses on playing a 2 way game, or more specifically defense, it lowers his offensive numbers. Which allows him to cheat more by floating around the blue line while his linemates actually play defense. Can't score on a breakaway in your own zone. Referencing the websites you listed, Nyquist played 75% of the time at even strength with Z, Bertuzzi, and Mantha. AA played 75% of even strength time with Mantha, Larkin, Bertuzzi, and Tatar. What a bunch of Bums there. Yeah, Because he's fast. Not anything too out of the ordinary here. AA cheats on D and floats. Not to say he can't change that and become a more rounded player, but up until now he seems unwilling or unable to learn how. 1. because he's not in Blashill's doghouse all of the time. 2. My point is that you can't discredit Nyquist because of who his linemates are. Ovechkin scores like 50 goals a season. I could argue he looks better than Nyquist because he has better linemates, or he gets a lot more PP opportunities, when in fact, his numbers are better because he is just a better player. Is that a "weak argument" ? Nyquist is a better hockey player than AA IMO. You can disagree if you want. That's fine. Maybe AA improves and surpasses him (I doubt it), who knows? But saying that better numbers is a "weak argument" because of who someone plays with is silly IMO. Do we take away the Rocket Richard Trophy from the player who scores the most goals because his center was better than the other guys or because he had more PP's? No. Individual numbers matter, regardless of linemates. You say that Nyquist was protected by Z? OK. AA played mostly with Larkin and lesser with Nielsen. Pretty good 2 way centers wouldn't you say? So Nyquist benefitted from Z but AA didn't benefit at all from Larkin? Can't have it both ways.
