Mike Green Officially Signed *Mod Warning Page 4*
Neomaxizoomdweebie replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
It was clearly Jakub Kindl -
I only made it to 45 seconds. And I think Jacques Mal-let would sound funnier.

So when Larkin and Zadina are getting headshots and crosschecks to the back, I guess we'll be looking to Abby and E to step in? I agree that from a "hockey" aspect, Wit doesn't have much to offer. But we have too much young talent on this team coming up, and I like having someone with his particular set of skills around.

Official 2018 Off Season *Rebuild* Thread
Neomaxizoomdweebie replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
You never know what is going to happen. There is always 1 or 2 teams that should make the playoffs who have a horrible season for one reason or another. YOu always have that 1 or 2 teams that overachieve and make the playoffs too. Don't think the playoffs are out of the question. I think they'll be in the running longer this season, falling just short of making it. That said, I think we have seen this team bottom out, and I expect them to get gradually better over the next 2 years before really pushing into a solid playoff team. -
There was an open roster spot. If Hronek or Cholowski weren't ready, why not bring back arguably your best D?
-
IDK. I just don't like the name "Grubauer". Is that like German for booger? It's like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Don't know why.
-
Frk yes. And I would have no complaint with that. I just don't know why they re-signed him if they thought they were bringing in Vanek. I really think Rass and Zadina should start the season with the Wings. I have no problem with Svech starting the season in GR and getting regular call ups tho. Witkowski isn't going anywhere. He's the only true "muscle" on the team and he is well liked in the locker room. They won't waive him.

Agreed. Ouellet is out with presumably Hicketts taking his spot. Hronek will get a look this season, but will be eating big minutes in GR (which he wouldn't be getting with the Wings) which is good for his development going forward (same with Cholowski). Kronwall will presumably retire at the end of this season and giving one full time spot to either Hronek or Cholowski to start the following season. Jensen is expendable and could be replaced by either prospect as well. Then you trade Green at the TDL and make a spot for another young D to end the season. The D is coming along just fine, with veteran contracts expiring at the right time to replace them with younger D. Isn't that how it's supposed to work? Expiring contracts: 2019: Kronwall, Jensen (replace with Hronek and Cholowski or one of Hronek/Cholowski and re-sign Jensen) 2020: Green, Daley, Ericsson (replace with Hronek/Cholowski, Sulak or Saarajarvi and a top 4 UFA signing) 2021: start bringing in McIsaac, Lindstrom, etc I don't know what there is to complain about here. You are mixing in veterans with youth while slowly getting younger. (Also known as a REBUILD) -
So if you replace JT with Filppula, do you then replace Filppula with Yashin?
-
So basically what ur saying is that we haven't lost anyone of significance who would have made much of a difference in our current situation despite all of the Holland hater crybabies calling for his firing. Thanks for the post tho. Why not? Who doesn't wanna party with a Johnny Football?
-
So right now, forwards on one way contracts are: Larkin Mantha Zetterberg Bertuzzi Nyquist AA Nielsen Helm Abby Glendening Frk Witkowski Vanek That only leaves room for one of Zadina, Rass, and Svech to make the roster. Unless a trade is made (which i think could happen) I only see Rass on the roster opening night unfortunately.
-
No
-
What kid is better than Green or Daley that they deserve a roster spot over either of these two recent veteran signings?
-
So they prolly had dirty dishes then.

The price of a short 2 year deal. -
Always thought ROR was overrated, especially at that salary. Sabres are getting back a pivot 3rd liner in Sobotka and a rookie 3rd line winger in Thompson along with a 2nd liner in Berglund. Actually, the Blues traded away all 3 forwards on their 2nd PP unit. Not a lot in terms of roster players for Buffalo, but that 1st rounder next summer could be a middling pick in another deep draft and they should get a quality player there. All-in-all, I think the Sabres win this trade.
-
I think he finishes out this coming season at center then gets moved to wing the following season on Rass's line. If he plays beyond that, it'll probably be on the 3rd line. I really think he wants to finish out his contract so as not to hurt the team, so I think he'll be more willing to take a more supportive role if his health starts to become an issue.
-
too balanced. it'll never work.
-
Fixed. https://www.si.com/nhl/2018/07/01/report-van-riemsdyk-sign-flyers Left winger James van Riemsdyk signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, inking a five-year contract worth a reported $35 million.

Not his fault he's stuck on the 3rd line without top 6 wingers. We'll see how he does centering Vanek and Rass this season. I think people will be pleasantly surprised with his increased offensive production this year. Besides having someone like Nielsen as a 3C is a luxury. There are quite a few young forwards coming up in the next few seasons: Zadina, Rass, Svech, plus you still have young guys in Bert, Mantha, and AA. Having guys like Larkin, Z, and Nielsen down the middle will be a huge boost to their development as forwards. All 3 centers play a solid 2 way game, are steady, and think the game very well. What many of you see as a waste of money, I see as a huge advantage for the kids to learn from. Overpaid or not, we aren't going after expensive free agents, and we are still able to re-sign core building blocks, so I don't see spending money on players that will benefit the youth movement as a a bad thing. -
"s https://www.wralsportsfan.com/canes-sign-goaltender-mrazek-to-1-year-deal/17667968/ The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Hurricanes worth $1.5 million.

That didn't work for Commodore wearing #64. I know Smith is projected to be a middle 6 winger, but I wonder if he wouldn't be a good fit on that line with Rass and Zadina? He could be the "mucker" on that line with Rass as the playmaker and Z2 as the scorer. I don't know that Smith would be out of place.
