If you don't understand the need to sign players that fill roles that Svech does not, I cant help you. If you don't understand how having a RH to take faceoffs can be an asset, I can't help you. Blashill is an awful HC and won't be around when the team is competitive again. What he is not is a prospect killer.
-
Again. Different players. Different roles.

Did anyone else hear about this?

I should clarify what I mean by bulking up. Putting on weight? Yes. But its also learning to stay balanced on your feet when playing against bigger players who can knock you on your arse, keeping your center of gravity low, gaining strength in the right places, etc. He may have an advantage with conditioning though. Less ice, less skating. I am not just talking about putting on weight, but also the strength and conditioning that goes with it.

IDK. I didn't make the rule and have said that it's unnecessary if all of the players are being tested before games regardless of vax status.
-
For varying reasons, yes. Gagner was a Glenny replacement. Is Svech a RH center who can take faceoffs? Nope. I never agreed with the Rowney signing. Stephens was brought in as a depth, defensive center. Is that Svech's game? No. Smith was supposed to be a physical presence who would drop the gloves. Not a role for Svech to play. Literally none of these guys has anything to do with Svech being let go. They all have completely different roles. All Svech would have had to do was beat out one of Ras, Fabbri, Namestnikov, Erne, or Veleno for a job. He couldn't. That's why he's gone. Not Blashill's fault.

Oats can't get no respect. I dont see Berggren as more than a Nyquist at best. I think it's been proven that anyone can spread CoVid, regardless of vax status. That is not the point of the vaccine.
-
Moose, Veleno, Fabbri, Namestnikov, Berggren, and possibly Neiderbach, Soderblom, and even Nilsson, made Svech expendable. How many 3rd liners does a team need?
-
I think Ned needs a break. Greiss has played well.
-
1. Mantha was a developed, underachieving roster player. Unlike Zadina, Ras, or Bert. 2. Past trades does not void my statement.

When will you learn how vaccines work?

Yzerman isnt trading any young talent.

Larkin has never been suspended before and is not known as a dirty player. Gallagher, on the other hand, does crap like this: And this: And this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators/cheapseats-borowiecki-got-what-he-deserved-but-how-did-gallagher-get-off-scot-free/wcm/b019e651-8db2-47ee-8129-6a608ee208ce/amp/ More inconsistency from the DoPS. -
Lol. They play BEFORE they get the results. Completely pointless protocol.

Less space to defend, yes. But he still needs to bulk up, I believe. And there is still a transition. If he isn't good enough to pair with Seider or Hronek in the top 4, give him big minutes in GR. Seider took a year in the AHL to be NHL ready, and he came from a mens league too. If Edvinsson makes the jump in his draft +1 year, that would be huge.
-
I believe the SHL has larger ice surfaces. He hasn't played on a North American rink that I'm aware. There will certainly be some transition involved with that. Also, the game is way faster in the NHL than Sweden, and the players are bigger. It's not necessarily a direct path from the SHL to the NHL. I don't think its a slight for him to spend some time in the AHL eating big minutes and putting on some weight.
-
Nashville gave up Seth Jones to get Ryan Johansen IIRC. I see Larkin and Johansen as comparables. The cost to get another "Larkin" is going to cost Yzerman at least one good prospect. I think the best chance is this year's draft. Or signing a 2C that is a little bit older in free agency.

One elite winger and one pair of elite D does not make this team elite. If you want to win with the current core you are going to need 2 lines of solid top 6 forwards and then guys who play below their skill set. 2nd liners playing 3rd, 3rd liners playing 4th, etc. You are also going to need at least solid, above average goaltending and two rock solid D pairs with an average 3rd pair. Absolutely zero scrubs.

This team is too good to be a lottery team. Probably picking in the 10-15 range. In order to tank, SY would have to trade out several good players and you would have to get the remaining players and coaches to commit to losing. Not gonna happen. Nor should we be developing the kids to be losers. I doubt Edvinsson makes the team next year. He will probably spend at least one season in GR, like Seider. But then again, I said the same about Raymond.
-
I dont think you guys realize that trading for a 1C would only make more holes in the roster than it would fix.
-
That shot looked like he was launching a bowling ball. That shot gets to the back of the net about 1 out of 100 times in the NHL. This team isn't going to win with elite talent. They are going to have to win with depth. The only position of need that we don't have on the roster or in the pipeline is another top 6 C to play 1C/2C.

Great game by Larkin
-
My math says that 10% of the rosters are Red Wings prospects. LAK also with 8.
-
No. But its why Detroit brings in a lot of Michigan natives.
