I know what you mean. The political spectrum can be weird sometimes. It's basically: Very Poor/Poverty - uber left. Lower Class/Poor - very left. Blue Collar/Lower Middle Class - lean left. Business Casual Middle Class - lean right. Upper Class (Millionaires)- very right. Very wealthy (Multi-millionaires) - uber right. Elitist Billionaires - uber left. -

Much like George Soros, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet, the uber wealthy are often leftists, the "Liberal Elite". That's because they think that because they are so successful, intelligent, and powerful that they should be the ones making the decisions for everyone else thru "big government", because the peons like us can't possibly think or make decisions for ourselves, that's why we aren't among the elite. -

He's a Canadian. so I doubt that. What does this have to do with CRL? He could just not show up, but instead he couldn't resist the opportunity to use the "R" word. A graceful decline of the invitation would have sent the same message without looking like a jerk. I know what RFA stands for, but what does DSP stand for? Dumb S**t Protestor? -

And yet you aren't talking about hockey. Yes, MLK's model of protest worked, Malcolm X's didn't. Read a history book. Yes. Mr. T is clearly planning for ethnic cleansing. -

CRL never said that. Also, every race is capable of racism, not just whites (which is a racist term IMO, Caucasian is the PC term). And if one is going to protest something, then yes, they should do it in a respectful and dignified way. Protesting being offended by doing something offensive in return is pretty much the definition of hypocrisy. Tell that to a US military service member or veteran, black or white, and see what they think about that. Mr. T's comments about the anthem had to do with the actions of those players not their races. Or can't someone criticize a person of color without being a racist? Yes, professional athletes should act like professionals Why is that a problem? There is a difference between one's political/governmental ideology and their social ideology or morality. You can identify with one and deplore the other. By your logic, anyone who supported George Clinton thought that sexual harassment and adultery are perfectly acceptable. Which it most certainly is not. -

Was that really necessary? My point is that the players that were once drafted in later rounds that he scouted are being drafted by other teams now. Therefore the "good" players that he scouts aren't in the Wings system, there in other teams' systems. That has nothing to do with his scouting ability, nor does it make him "washed up". The players that are in the system now that he scouted are probably guys who wouldn't have been drafted by the Wings 10 years because there would have been better players higher up on his list left on the board to draft. They have to pick from what's left (lesser prospects). So again, its not Hakan losing his touch, it's other teams scouting getting better. There's less big fish to catch when there's more guys fishing for them. I think the "DUH" moment is people thinking Hakan's genius is fading because they don't understand this. If they did, there would be no reason to ask the question. -
Maybe he means pushing in the card playing context. C'mon you guys, first you complain there aren't enough top 6 RH on this team, and then you moan when Kenny goes after one. *sarcasm* Is this a typo? I think that getting OEL to re-up in AZ would more likely require an "oral" agreement.

We agree, I was just reasoning on WHY I would do it.

Hakan hasn't lost his touch, he just has more competition these days. Guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg would never last until the 6th or 7th round before being picked anymore. What made Hakan seem like a genius is that he found players that were draft worthy that other scouts hadn't scouted, and therefore could be taken later. Other teams have caught up and you can't get away with that anymore. If you pick a guy like Datsyuk or Z in the 2nd or 3rd round (which they would have been if other teams knew about them) instead of the 6th or the 7th, your "genius" label goes away. -

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=booring booring A splice of the English 'boring' and 'boor.' This delightful wordplay, suggests the combination of extreme boredom and a kind of passive rudeness that is so contemptuous as to make one wish to vomit. -

I would love to upgrade over a 36 yo E. It's not that I want to keep E after his contract, I'm just saying what I think will happen. I know this is a "New" Holland, but until I see him letting his overpaid vets walk, I am not convinced. It will probably be the same rules as the Vegas draft. https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-expansion-draft-rules/c-281010592 https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/seattles-possible-nhl-expansion-draft-rules-vegas/ Chris Johnston ✔@reporterchris NHL GMs have been told Seattle’s potential expansion draft would be conducted under the exact same rules as Vegas was, per Bill Daly. 10:41 AM - Mar 21, 2018 https://www.nhl.com/devils/news/nhl-expansion-draft-101/c-289908006 a player with a no-movement clause in his contract must be included on a team's protected list unless he waives it. What is traditionally the time when you shave the playoff beard? BTW, anyone want to guess how much longer Tatar's pic is on the LGW front page? I'm guessing 1st week of October. I would say that this thread has derailed, but that would be an understatement. It's more like Hiroshima. -
Giving up a one dimensional RFA and 30 is easy. If the other part is #36, I would probably do it. 36 is an extra pick essentially and we'd still have #33, so it makes it easier to give up #30. The prospect of drafting one of Bouchard/Dobson/Hughes/Boqvist and then either Coke Can, Wahlstrom, or Tkachuk while still having an early 2nd is worth it IMO.

And eastern european goalies Haven't you read Lefty's book on Ken Holland? This is tire-kicking 101.

You should probably reread my post. Nowhere did I defend Mr. T. No where did I say Mr T hasnt done anything wrong so no hypocrisy there. I was talking about Face cuz he is a hockey player and therefore relevant to the topic. I was only talking about respecting the office of the Prez not Mr. T. 2 different things. & just because Face has the legal right to do something doesnt mean he should nor does it exempt him from the consequences of his actions. Ya know kinda like what has happened to Murdoch when he refused to stand for the anthem. -

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2779884-nhl-rumors-latest-trade-buzz-on-phil-kessel-jeff-skinner-and-more Brennan Klak@nhlupdate Per Pierre LeBrun, #Canes are asking for a 1st + prospect for Jeff Skinner. Jeff Skinner Could Be Traded as Carolina Hurricanes Seek Toughness "Either the players have to be tougher or you have to bring in tougher players," he said. "I'm easy. I'll take either one." Phil Kessel's Future as a Pittsburgh Penguin Is in Doubt "all is not well in the relationship between Kessel and [Pittsburgh Penguins head coach] Mike Sullivan." According to Yohe, the situation between player and coach has become increasingly problematic over the past year, and it has led to various trade rumors involving the sniper. Adding fuel to the fire were recent comments from Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford, who had every opportunity to say Kessel wasn't going to be traded, but he didn't.

All 3 of Abby, Helm, and Nielsen have some form of NTC/NMC and therefore cannot be left exposed in an expansion draft. The only way any of them don't finish out their contracts in Detroit is retirement, LTIR, or trade, none of which is likely to happen. I think we all would agree that those contracts are at best sub-par, and at worst, downright atrocious. But the only issue that I can really see with any of them is cap hit, and if this team is rebuilding, than they shouldn't be going after expensive free agents anyway. And assuming Holland learns to sign pending free agents to reasonable contracts, I don't think any of those contracts will cause serious cap issues in the future considering a lot of the roster will be on low cost ELC's. That said, I also think that each of them are good for this team and would serve as good mentors/leaders for the youth movement. Abby has good leadership skills. Helm is very good defensively. Considering that younger players often loathe playing defense, (AA and MAntha, I am talking to you) having a guy like Helm around could be a positive influence. As for Nielsen, aside from Z, he is probably the best 2 way player on this team. He can be used at even strength on a scoring or checking line, on the PP, and on the PK. Plus, he really wants to be here. There is something to be said about that. Anyway, I guess my point is that if their contracts aren't going to hurt the team going forward, than why get rid of them? I mean, if they were all making 25-50% less, wouldn't we all want them here? LOL. You know the season is over when ur haggling over 6/7 Dmen . Anyway, the only potential D drafted that I think will be NHL ready by the end of Daley and E's contracts (2020) is if they draft one at #6. True, but unless you are upgrading over E (which would be fine), bringing in another depth D to replace him would just be a lateral move. Why not then just keep the guy that you know already fits, who already understands the "Red Wing Way", and is presumably a good locker room presence. No guarantee that anyone brought in from outside would give you that. Kronwall, and Ouellet I agree with. I think Jensen gets traded rather than get a raise. I don't think Daley gets traded until the final year of his deal (2 years away). I don't think E gets traded before his contract is up. As for Green, either he's gone this summer or he's here thru at least 2020.
