No it wouldn't. Racism can be blamed for a lot of things. But not every negative thing that happens to someone who is not "privileged" is racism. It's too often used as a scapegoat to deflect away from personal responsibility or is too often used as a reason for bad things happening to someone that have nothing to do with race. And as long as something can be gained by it, it will continue to be used, or abused. If someone "believes" that they were discriminated against based on the fact that the person who offended them is not of the same race, that is also discrimination, because you are prejudging someone you don't know based on the fact that they are of a different group. Prejudgment and prejudice are synonymous.The idea that the problem is completely one sided is just simply not true. False claims do happen. And assuming that just because someone claims racism that it must be is just simply not the case every time. We are all human, we all make mistakes, the idea that someone can't misinterpret or misunderstand the actions of another and automatically conclude racism is wrong. Rushing to judgment is wrong. If you think that every person who claims discrimination really is a victim and that there aren't people who take advantage of it, then I don't know what to tell you. Guys Nielsen isn't going anywhere. Full NMC, and yet I see him mentioned in every trade proposal. With the addition of Svech and Rass to the lineup, he may actually have the wingers next year to center a scoring line. I think he'll have a better season be cause of it.

Edmonton needs players that help now. Dekeyser, Jensen won't help much and the late first rounder doesn't help them anymore than their 10th overall would. If they trade that pick it will be for a guy that we wouldn't want to give up. Think Larkin or Mantha. Dekeyser at this point is probably worth a 3rd and Jensen a 5th or 6th rounder. Adding those two together won't move you up 21 spots in the draft which is essentially what your proposal is doing. If we want to trade up into the top 12, it will cost next years 1st. No way around that.

The thing about racism (or prejudice in general) is that it will always exist as long as someone FEELS victimized by it. If we are to truly stamp out prejudice of any kind, than we must not only stop tolerating those who display it, but also stop tolerating those who judge the actions of others as something its not. Just assuming you are being discriminated against by others, because they are different than you, is prejudiced in itself. That's what the Social Justice Warriors intentionally ignore and why the problem will never go away until that is also addressed.

Smart fans and players understood that keeping a team a contender requires paying some guys to team friendly deals. Its impossible under the cap to sign every player to fair market value. Guys on ELCs will make less. Vets chasing a cup will take less. Its how it works. Any fans complaining about KH lowballing UFAs and chasing them away clearly had no idea how to run a successful NHL franchise. But then again, for awhile there, neither did Kenny!
