Agree with Kronwall and Howard. Nyquist will get us a first rounder back. You're undervaluing Nyquist. At the TDL, there will be a playoff team who will be looking to make a run and will want to add offense without adding term. A first round pick is what a 2nd line forward will get you. She's a 6 at best.

Any team looking for a player with the speed of a scoring F and the hands of a defenseman, or a top 6 paid 3rd liner who blocks fists with his face would be interested for sure. Pretty sad when Glendening is probably the most tradeable of those 3. That said, that would be one very expensive 4th line, although a very good one. He's not even a Helm 2.0. Sad.

True. But you do need to be an expert to understand the severity of his condition and to be able to judge the prognosis of it. And more importantly, to be able to judge whether or not his condition warrants passing on him. Having a layman's knowledge of concussions and brain trauma isn't enough to decide that IMO. The only place I am seeing any concerns are from fans posting them in forums like this one. I tried searching for articles regarding his condition and any concerns that scouts, analysts, GMs may have with it and couldn't find any. I am not writing the kid off just because of whats being said here, reddit, or hf boards. Especially when those who are more knowledgeable of the situation, and are taking all the risk, aren't. I would be happy with any of the D being mentioned as possibilities, including Boqvist. If you avoid drafting, signing, re-signing, or trading for any player with a concussion history, you're going to have a very short list of players to choose from.

Yes. That's where we differ. I think Green will be back next year and Hicketts will replace Ouellet. The D should be the same if not better next season. I think the F group overall improves. The draft next year is predicted to be deep, I agree, but I think the team will be closer to the playoffs and I am not confident they will even be picking in the top 10 next year. It's a gamble assuming they will. If I trade next year's uncertain pick for one I know will be top 7 or 8 this year, that's a safer bet. Could they pick higher next year and get a better player than who they could get this year? Absolutely. But they could also pick later (more likely IMO) and get a much lesser player. I'd rather take the certain "7 or 8" now. But I agree that trading next year's first would be too high of a price IF the team is worse and the pick is essentially a top 5.

Nothing wrong with having concerns. It gives me pause too. What gives me confidence in Boqvist is the fact that every mock draft I have seen has him going anywhere from 3 to 7. In fact, I don't even think I've seen it mentioned in those drafts either. I just don't think that would be the case if teams were really shying away from picking him because of concussion concerns. i certainly am no CTE expert, which is why I am putting the responsibility on those whose job it is too judge/decide/determine the seriousness of his condition. I won't allow my lack of knowledge in that field to cause me to become overly concerned with it when those in the know don't seem to be. I just don't know enough to say "don't draft him, he's damaged goods". Its entirely possible the nay-sayers turn out to be right. Its entirely possible he drops in the draft because of it. I don't know. What i won't do is judge a player based on "expertise" i don't have.
