Yeah but he's no "Monster". Is it fair to compare the 2? I recall Gustavsson having some really good games, and carrying the team at times, but his overall stats weren't great. Kinda like Mrazek. Too streaky, lacked consistency at times. But then again, he was about as consistently healthy as Howard.

    Bad ticker.

I liked the Monster. He's not broken. He's playing in the SEL now. Jurco back up with the Hawks. Looks mishandled.

Nope. KHL. Former D: Derek Meech: Jets-KHL-AHL-Swedish Elite League; hasn't played since 2016 Brett Lebda: Toronto-Nashville-AHL-Columbus-AHL; hasn't played since 2013 Danny Markov: 7 years in the KHL after leaving Wings; hasn't played since 2014 Ian White: KHL-AHL; hasn't played since 2015 Carlo Colaiacovo: Blues-Flyers-Sabres; now playing in German Elite League

    Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

Yeah. He should wear #2. Beat me to it.

Are we really going to turn this into another Howard v. Mrazek debate? Howard is the starter. He earned that before the season even started because he was the better goalie. He hasn't done anything deserving of getting fewer starts. It would be unfair to do so for the sake of getting Mrazek going. Mrazek played himself into the backup role. He's not owed any more starts than what's normal for a backup. If Mrazek takes advantage of his limited starts, then great. I hope he does. But you don't take starts away from Howard and give them to Mrazek when he hasnt earned it yet in the hopes that he does.

    Wings Recall Hicketts

He's only 5'9" 185 lbs now. The last thing he should be doing is playing his arse off!

Yep. I'm sure thats exactly the reason. Fame, power, and wealth have nothing to do with it!

If that was true Glendening and Miller would have been All Stars when Babs was here.

No, Holland trades Janmark and a 2018 1st round pick for Smith and Quincey.

Castaway (How former Wings are doing)

Former undrafted free agents: Ville Leino: retired Fabian Brunnstrom: retired Damien Brunner: playing in the Swiss League for pennies compared to what he would've gotten if he has resigned with the Wings (interestingly enough there was no agent listed on his profile page I was looking at) Former TDL pickups: Erik Cole: retired David Legwand: retired

    Cholowski playing really well

Of course, but no relieving yourself on the rug afterwards. Good to hear. If Cholowski turns out well, and KH drafts a stud D in the first round. We could finally have a top pair.

    Wings Recall Hicketts

Is he the next Torey Krug or Adam Almqvist? We'll see how his size translates into the NHL. I hope we finally catch a break. So he's Daily?

    Cogliano's Consecutive Games Streak Ends

What he meant to do shouldn't matter. If a guy gets hit in the face with a stick, its a penalty whether the offender meant to or not. You are responsible for your stick. Hits like this should be held to the same standard. Intent might be a mitigating circumstance and result in a more lenient punishment, but it shouldn't absolve a player of his responsibility to be in control of his actions.

Can you sign a player as an UFA if you don't qualify him? Or is that not allowed under the CBA? If he isnt traded, I really only see 2 real scenarios. 1. Holland qualifies him. Bad move. Can't afford to pay him that. 2. Mrazek is not qualified and signs with another team (most likely). I just don't see him coming back here if he hits UFA. I think that bridge is burned. Who is our goalie next year then? If his stats are that bad, why resign him?

10 years plus. He deserves it though. Imagine what he could have accomplished if he didn't have a noodle noggin. I think his brother suffered the same fate IIRC. Maybe it was a family thing.

Official 2018 NHL Amateur Entry Draft Discussion Thread

Yeah but my point was that there are so many good players available this year that there's no reason to get ur panties in a bunch if Holland doesn't pick who you want. Whoever he picks, I am confident that it will be a solid pick even if its not one of the guys I'm looking at. Unless of course Dahlin is available and he doesn't take him, then I'll lose my shiitake mushrooms. Said no woman ever.

This is good considering what the Rags gave up for Smith. I'm smelling multiple assets.

There's no way Mrazek is qualified at 4 mil and then renegotiates for less. Why would he do that? There's no advantage to doing that that I can see unless he likes giving money away. If he's qualified it would be on a one year deal worth 4 mil. If he isn't qualified, he becomes an UFA and can possibly get a better deal than any renegotiated amount Holland would offer. He would have no reason to stay, and frankly why would he?

I think its a good thing. It means there's a lot of good players and you can't really screw it up. That's comforting. Although you know that no matter who Holland picks people will hate it.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

If it was ever between Tatar and Radulov, I would choose Radulov. With Nyquist, Tatar was redundant and Radulov would have brought something the team was missing until Mantha. I'm not that familiar with Radulov, but he seems like he he's the type that's hard to knock off the puck. An underrated skill in the NHL.
