Standings, the good the bad and the ugly

Like Mrazek? -
That's because all GMs are fallible. When teams are contenders their GMs are praised. When the teams of those same GMs start to head South (which is a normal process in the league now) they became "washed up", "outdated", etc. When teams are loaded with talent and they're a contender, their GM's mistakes are less noticeable, even though the best Gms make them. When parity sets in, and their teams start to run its coarse toward a rebuild, their mistakes are magnified. Bowman is a good GM, but he's not perfect. As the 'Hawks continue to decline (and they will) its only natural that the "Bowman is an idiot" "Fire Bowman" cries start. It happened to Holland too, although not all of it unfair. Bowman was never as brilliant as Hawks fans once claimed and Holland is/was never as bad as Wings fans claim. It's the Circle...Circle of Life. (Read this as Elton John singing it) If you trade for BOGO is it a Buy One Get One Free scenario?

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

I agree, I don't believe in curses, I just thought it was ironic? coincidental? eerie? Whatever word you wanna use. It stuck out to me I guess. 19 should be retired league wide in honor of the greatest captain to ever play the game. -
That's why they send all of the terrible defensemen there. Especially the ones who who don't score enough points.

Pretty much the kind of thing I was basing it on. Also smart phones have pretty much destroyed workplace productivity. It's funny watching people who literally cannot function without one. And just to keep things on topic. Congratulations Canada on your Gold!

Yeah, but Salei wore #24 AFTER Chelios, and was the last dman to wear it. Plus, Chelios is Greek so I think garlic had something to do with it. BTW, Salei, May, and Brunner all wore 24 after Chelios, I think its unlikely it gets retired. -

I think it'll happen sooner than that. They'll still make the playoffs, I just think they start cooling off after the All Star break. Their success so far just seems unsustainable with that roster. -
1st round pick, here we come!

I wanted him to come to the Wings just so I could call him "Osh Kosh B'Goshian"

Propane and propane accessories don't sell themselves in the South either.

Anyone notice that multiples of 8 are not good luck for defenseman? Fischer wore 8 at one point, Vladdy wore 16, Salei wore 24. Kuznetsov wore 32, got traded and disappeared. Although that's not as bad as the other 3. -
I'd like to see them play a Winter Classic game there.

He's not dominating against 18 year olds, so he sucks. Prove it.

Did you shower afterwards?

My bad. Didn't mean to over generalize. Not going to get political here. Let's just say that my opinion is based on personal experience, not the media. If any Millennials were offended (which of course you will be), I apologize.

One of our 2nd round picks. And considering Green probably gets that or better, I would do it.

Totally valid point and I don't disagree with you. The guys over 19 still playing there are probably lesser players. (You could say that just about any league besides the NHL is full of lesser players.) But they also have more experience, which is a developmental advantage. My point was that Cholowski is playing against guys who ARE older (literally and developmentally) and have MORE experience at that level even if they have lower potential. Not saying anyone is wrong or I'm right. I just see Cholowski's development as a positive and I am optimistic. Being 6th in points shouldnt be viewed as disappointment. Besides, I haven't heard Devellano complaining yet. Haters gonna hate.

Ummm...not quite. 1st bold: He turns 20 on Feb 15th. The season started on Sept 21st and ends on March 18th. He was 19 1/2 (is that accurate enough?) when the season started and he will be 20 all of one month when the season ends. He was essentially an 18 year old for all of last season. So yeah he's playing the season as pretty much a 19 year old, right? Underlined bold: Although I admittedly don't follow the CHL, I do do research before I post. Here is the link I am basing ages on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_ice_hockey Some tidbits from the article: "Junior hockey is ice hockey competition generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age." "The CHL currently places a cap of three 20-year-old or overage players per team, while only four 16-year-olds are permitted. " Have I checked every teams roster to see how old every single player is? No. But common sense would dictate that teams would try to get as many older players on the team as they could. And being that Cholowski is going to be a 20 year old, it stands to reason that there are already guys in the league who started the season at 20 and will be 21 before the season is over. That would make them older with more years played, Right? And as I believe was already stated by kickazz(?) the guys who are above him in points are older and been in the league longer? Am I right? So how old are those guys? 2nd bold: Not according to the link I posted. 3rd bold: So then being 6th? in the league right now means nothing then? Finally, my points were that he is playing well for the league he's in. Do you agree? He's a defenseman, so I am more concerned about his defense than points. Am I wrong? One can argue the fine details all they want, but it doesn't change or delegitimize anything I posted.

Seriously, either you or kickazz need to change your avatars. Its like trying to figure out who's Mary Kate and who's Ashley.

Good to see this from Millennials as opposed to the entitlement snowflakes I'm used to seeing. Although the crying seems familiar.

I'm pretty sure he's taken a few dumps since then. Or he'd be REALLY bloated. -
I was totally gonna do a thread like this but you beat me to it, LOL! I agree with the 1st 3. Biggest Surprise: Jonathan Ericsson- been solid for awhile, looks like a 2nd pair D.
