1/7 GDT - Lightning @ Red Wings - 7:00 PM EST

Everytime I hear about the NJ trap system I picture 5 Admiral Akbars skating in front of Brodeur. This I agree with. -
Those kids had heart tho. They wanted to win, played hard, and were genuinely torn up to lose. I wish the Wings played with that level of passion.

No. I am saying that he's starting tonight so the balls in his court. If he doesn't play balls out, Tampa has proven to be ballbusters for him in the past. So I hope he plays balls against the wall, but he'll probably just drop the ball.

Martin Brodeur's backups didn't play much either. Schwab, Clemmensen, Terreri, Weekes, and Hedberg among orhers all had better stats than Mraz-suck. -
Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

What hurts Shanny is that he played for too many other teams. Wings were only 1 of 5. He played more seasons in other jerseys (12) than for the Wings. He kinda gets the Chelios treatment. -

5 goals on 23 shots isn't rust, its suck. -
Don't need to. Tampa will.

Chris is more $ focused. Raising retired numbers to the rafters sells tickets, throwback jerseys, memorabilia, advertising etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of it now. -

Avs just raised Hejduk's 23 last night. So although the Wings seem to have higher standards than most, the Howe standard would have been ridiculous. Then you would be questioning Y and Lids even. Ullman is also intriguing, Stanley Cup, HOF, but no individual awards. Pronovost- HOF, Richard trophy, but no Stanley Cup (it sucks that his first season with the Wings was 55-56). Both had long careers and played significant amounts of time with the Wings. -
How does he compare to Jiri Fischer? Anyone know? Is there a good comparable?

HOF induction by then or not, I would like to see Z and D raised at the same time. The criteria of HOF, Stanley Cup and individual award are more of a guideline. Delvecchio never won an individual award. Chelios and Hasek accomplished all 3, but I wouldn't put them in the rafters. Honorable mention of some kind would be appropriate. There was an interesting bleacher report article about how 24 should be retired to honor Probert, Chelios and Salei. I think 30 and 91 won't be or they would have been by now. I don't believe anyone has worn them since, so maybe they're getting the Aurie treatment. Although I wouldn't mind a certain center from NY wearing 91. -

91-Fedorov: Stanley Cup, HOF, individual award = yes, now 13-Datsyuk: Stanley Cup, individual award = yes, after induction into HOF 40-Zetterberg: same as Datsyuk 30-Osgood: Stanley Cup, shared award = complicated He does not have an individual award to his name nor is he in the HOF. Until then, no, his number should not be retired and placed in the rafters. Even of he gets into the Hall, its still dicey. I could go either way. I would like to see some kind of official decirculation of jerseys too. We all know that Aurie's 6 and Vladdy's 16 are no longer used. Why not have a "Ring or Wall of Honor" to recognize them? Also, I would like to see Fischer's 8 added to it. I mean the guy almost died on the bench wearing a Wings jersey. -
If he's playing with balls in hockey, that's probably why he's so bad.

Standings, the good the bad and the ugly

That wouldn't be such an issue if they had divided the eastern conference divisions up geographically correct in the first place and had Atlantic and Northeast divisions instead of the stupid Metropolitan. -
Alternative fact.

Can we use one of our picks on a kipwinger? Although I understand that they tend to disappear for long periods of time. -
What is going on in here? I feel like its Dragonball Z all over again.

I used to be able to upload images. Now I just get this: There was a problem processing the uploaded file. Please contact us for assistance. Any ideas?

Every time I read the title of this thread I picture Rass taking a walk.

True Dickie, the kids MIGHT learn more, but I am concerned that they will also learn to be apathetic, that playing hard doesn't mean anything, that a culture of losing is acceptable. If they're going to be a bad team, then be a bad team by playing hard and actually trying to win. But giving up on the season and tanking does more harm than good for their development IMO.

Ummm.....where is that guy's hand at? Fake news.

This is not a rumor this is fact. I thought this was a rumors thread. Seriously tho, let's just discourage the few people left in here who still post from doing so out of fear of going off topic. Who cares. As long as its Wings related, post away muchachos. Forget conformity, let's keep things interesting. I still consider Howard an above average starter even tho I would rank him around the middle of the pack, and even tho it seems contradictory. On a side note: Is it just me or does it seem like people bash Blashill for not playing the "more deserving kids" over the underperforming veterans, but then argue that Blashill should play the underperforming goalie (Mrazek) over the more deserving one (Howard)? Does this seem slightly contradictory/hypocritical to anyone besides me?

I wouldn't go that far. Draper had better hands than Helm. I remember him performing well in offensive roles when he was given opportunities to play in the top 6 back in the day
