https://www.thesportster.com/hockey/ranking-every-goalie-selected-in-the-first-round-since-2000/ "We are in an era where goalies are rarely selected in the first-round of NHL Entry Drafts. There are multiple reasons for it and perhaps the main reason is because the bulk of them don't only fail to become number one netminders, but many don't even play in an NHL game. That's at least what has happened historically. Of the 27 goalies drafted between 2000-2015 in the first round, only a few have become "elite," some have become consistent number ones, and others have either a) not played a second of NHL action or b) played less than 10 games. It's clearly a risk for NHL general managers to spend a franchise-changing pick on a goaltender when it's clear most of them aren't going to be as good as a team hopes. In fact, think of the league's elite goalies and how few of them were first-round picks."

Laugh all you want, but that guy is a nice dresser. I don't think they'll be jealous.

Spezza is clearly a better player. We should trade Larkin for him straight up.
-
That is good value.

If you have to debate it, the answer is always "no". Classic "Body Snatchers". One of the few times I got to see ( . ) ( . ) as a kid. Good times.

Not that it hurts your case, but Al Montoya was drafted 6th overall by the Rangers in 2004. And his 2nd Cup was after returning as an UFA. So the Wings won their 4 Cups in the modern era with 2 goalies they traded for, 1 they drafted, and 1 they re-signed as a UFA.
-
So glad we drafted Mike Vernon and Dominik Hasek.
-
He only has 2 seasons to go to be eligible for UFA status.
-
He'd be the new team captain.
-
Ah. The good old days.

A player becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) if their current contract ends after either 7 Accrued Seasons or they are 27 or older as of June 30. An Accrued Season is defined as a year in which a skater is on an NHL roster for at least 40 games (30 games for Goalies).

Scheifele is not a dirty player. First offense. Which is why 4 games was excessive. Pause the video at 1:06 and 1:07. You will see that Evans has possession of the puck and is wrapping it around the post. Notice Scheifele here. He had a chance to possibly knock the puck away with his stick. He makes no attempt to do so. He doesn't even look at the puck. He is looking squarely at Evans. At 1:07 you can see him begin to square up for the hit. He is close enough that he absolutely could have poke checked here or knocked the puck away with a backhand and might have saved a goal and whole lot of grief for himself if he did. I believe a "predatory" hit is one against a vulnerable player. Or it could just mean a hit to the head. Or both. Not sure.
-
I think its because the DoPS said it was a "predatory " hit, that's why the 4 games.
-
Not worth it.
-
No. If they clean house (including Eichel) they have no reason to draft a guy that comes straight to the NHL.
-
I think the leftovers will be aged vets that wouldn't make sense for this team tho. Don't think ur gonna see a lot of guys under 30 who aren't signed.
-
Scott R Lucidi = Average
-
This is reasonable, however, the difference between a clean hit and a dirty one is subjective. You would have to be able define your terms in a way that is satisfactory to everyone involved.

I chose that pic because my daughter absolutely loves that character. I am certainly not going to put a pic of her on a public website, so I chose one that reminds me of her and makes me smile. I have never been to a Comic Con in my life and wouldn't waste the money to go to one.

Yes he did. But I still don't think he trades up. He's more likely to trade down in the draft to acquire more picks.
