Lets be honest. If you didn't know who this was, you'd never guess NHL player.

All of those guys are centers. They got moved to the wing because there's too many centers on the team, not because they can't play the position.

Lack a top pair defender to pair with Seider, and another 1C/2C. Goalies are way easier to acquire thru trades and free agency then a top pair D or 1C. Goalies are much harder to evaluate and much more likely to bust at that draft position than a F or D. You should always take BPA with a pick that high, and not draft for need. That's what later picks are for. Take a C or D with the first pick and worry about goaltending later in the draft. -

I would buyout Nielsen, and I think SY does. He only has one contract year left, so it would only count against the cap for the next 2 years. And with Franzen and Weiss's contracts already off the books, and Zetterberg's coming off this summer, Yzerman only has Abby's buyout left to worry about. I would only re-sign Glendening and Bernier among the UFA's. All RFA's are 26 and under and appear to be legit NHLers, so I would re-sign all except Djoos (redundant).

Yeah. The generation that moved the entire world from analog to the digital age is irrelevant. Forgotten? Yes. Unappreciated? Indeed. Irrelevant? Never. The best Red Wings players of our lifetimes were all Gen X by the way.
