The blue pills keep you stuck in the Matrix, tho. Pros v. Cons I dont think so. Bernier has never been a consensus #1 that I recall. Always in that 1A/1B battle. I dont think he gives up being a starter in the years he has left to chase a cup as a backup. The likelihood of that working out is small. Better for him to pursue starter money at this point and retire. -

Isn't he kind of a 2c tho? Granted, we need one, but I wouldn't give up a pick or prospect for one at this point. If Larkin was a better 1C I might be more comfortable with it. I just dont think I would give up building assets for a C unless its a significant improvement over Larkin.

Any well managed team can rebuild successfully with consecutive picks in the 5-10 range. You don't need 1s and 2s to do it. That just makes it easier. -

Yeah. Forgot about that. Call me crazy, but since he wasn't traded, I would actually re-sign Bernier before he hits the market and finds a deal he likes better somewhere else. He could still be the protected goalie. Even if Greiss were taken, which I doubt, he is way easier to replace. If he is the only one on the roster, than yeah. You said that like he's plural. Freudian slip? The fate of Gina Carano awaits you.

Lindstrom has shown to be the most likely to stick at the NHL level. He won't be a top 4 D, 3rd pair or 7th most likely, but he gives you a safer option. Cholowski has more potential, IMO, but hasn't shown that he can stick at the NHL level yet. I think he could be a 2nd pair, but he could be a bust, too. It all depends if Yzerman wants to take the risk with Cholowski, or play it safe with Lindstrom. -
How would Bernier get picked in the expansion draft? He would be the protected goalie. Yzerman will most likely use the cap space to take on more bad contracts in exchange for draft picks as well as more 1 year deals that he can flip at the TDL.

1. So they're fixing the lottery after the Wings get screwed multiple years in a row. That figures. 2. Why don't they just let the bottom 3 finishers be part of the lottery? You can't move more than 2 spots back and teams wont feel the need to tank. The 4th pick on would then be in reverse order of finish. And no one gets a pick they don't deserve
