2021 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - April 12, 2021
Neomaxizoomdweebie replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
Never said he shouldn't be traded. I would. Just pointing out that he wouldnt have to be protected as he would be an UFA at the time of the expansion draft whether he is traded or not. -
What are you talking about?!?!

The expansion draft is before free agency starts. He would be signed afterward. -
They look like they would have something to do with ass, yes.

You forgot Theo Fleury and Aki Berg.

The truest thing you've ever posted. -
Filppula leaves via free agency. Replaced with Stephen Weiss. Weiss bought out. Brad Richards signed to replace Weiss. Sucked and then retired. Nielsen brought in to replace Richards. Nielsen goes downhill fast. Filppula brought back to help stop the decline. Circle of Life

Mantha or AA - Which Player is Lazier?
Neomaxizoomdweebie replied to Scott R Lucidi's topic in General
Different flaws. Mantha is just lazy. AA just basically refused to play a complete game and was incorrigible. The former is a bad trait, the latter is a bad attitude. -
Not gonna happen.

Stutzle was also more developed to play at the NHL level having played in a men's league already. Lafreniere is still making the shift from juniors to the pros. He'll take longer, but he'll get there. He is still the better prospect.

I haven't passed judgment. Just stating the fact that: 1. No victim has come forward. 2. The allegations come from a political rival. 3. The timing is suspicious. From an "innocent until proven guilty" perspective, there is nothing here. Nothing. Until Panarin is proven guilty, he is innocent. That means the allegations arent true until they can be proven. Im not rushing to judgment. Its exactly the opposite. -
I would think it would be a benefit to a defenseman.

Yeah. Playing in the Western Conference for 20 years was such a dyck move. -
Don't remember saying Zadina was elite, just better defensively than you give him credit for. Also. Gagners GP and TOI is less than Zadinas.

I wonder if the taxi squad implementation is negating the need for teams to make trades. Lol. HFboards? That's exactly the kind of insight into NHL management I need. Don't need 4th liners? Planning on just rolling with 3 lines then? -
Compared to the team's goal differential? It kinda is.
-
He has one of the best +/- on the team. If he's not scoring, then he must be playing some good defense.

1. Nope. I just dont buy into the "Believe All Women" mentality. I actually want proof before I pass judgment. Y'know, like a rational person that believes in that "innocent until proven guilty" nonsense. Ray Rice? Guilty of abusing his gf. Patrick Kane? Probably a con job to get money. Both are possibilities. 2. Never said any kind of abuse is ok. Just stating the obvious, that repeating the same crime over and over is worse than committing the same crime just once. Our criminal justice agrees, BTW. Which is why punishment is greater for the former. 3. Never said that one act of domestic violence wasn't a crime. It obviously is. Dont know of one crime that allows for a do over. 4. It isn't "domestic violence". If there isn't a romantic or familial relationship, or a common residency, it can't be "domestic violence". It's assault. But it's still a different crime. 5. Guess you missed the part where I said that the same things happen here, but it's worse in Russia. -
Imagine seeing him play for John Tortorella.

Yep. "Extremely valuable" is exactly how I described him. Those are exactly the terms that I would placate for. It's not about "falling in love" with players. It's understanding that these kinds of players are still needed. And bringing back a familiar player that fills that role, without any question about how he'll fit in, what kind of player he'll be, how he'll perform with the team, etc makes more sense than bringing in a new player and not really knowing exactly what ur getting. And no one is wanting to overpay for Glenny, like E or Abby. Nor is anyone wanting to keep a player past his usefulness, like Sammy or Cleary. A fair salary and term for a useful veteran are still the kinds of deals you have to make even if you're a rebuilding team. Yep. Every player retires at 32 cuz they have nothing left to offer. -

I updated my post with his face off numbers. Not the most valuable skill, but still worth acquiring for a team with that needs a RH in the faceoff circle, particularly in defensive situations. His cap hit is 1.8, but his actual salary is 1.5 as its declining as he gets older. As it should be. Again, 1.5 is not an overpayment for a veteran (but not washed up) bottom 6, defensively reliable forward who is good in the faceoff circle. Dobbers is wrong. No way he makes half. That what guys on the way out, like Gagner, make. Glenny still has a lot left in the tank.
