That is exactly what I was saying the team should do. 1. Age is irrelevant if he's still productive. 2. I wouldn't consider 1.5 mil this season as overpayment. 3. He is a grinder, not a scorer. 4. The team as a whole has a very poor +/-, and Glendening is mostly used in defensive roles with a poor defensive team and dman corp. Of course he's in the negative. 5. Way to gloss over the fact that he is 7th on the team in scoring and +/- this season and has the best +/- of anyone on the team who's played more than 13 games. Only 2 players on this team are positive players. 6. He is 10th in the entire NHL in faceoff wins and 23rd in FO win percentage. He's at or near the top of the league among RHers. 7.He will get more back in return than you think. I would disappointed if its only a 3rd or less. -

1. Hardworking bottom 6 Grinder 2. Right handed shot 3. Good at faceoffs 4. Defensively sound 5. Proficient at wing or center 6. Great teammate and locker room presence 7. Highly productive veteran presence There are always a lot of bottom 6 guys available. But I think if you add up all of Glendening's skills, qualities, intangibles, etc...you will find he is much better player than most at that level. -
No. He will get a bigger return than what most expect.

Panarin taking leave from NYR. Reports emerging that he beat an 18 yo girl in 2011.

Exactly my point. They are the perfect victim. One alleged act of violence against a stranger at a bar while under the influence of alcohol vs. repeated acts of violence against a spouse and/or children. Hmmm. Funny cuz the allegation was that officials were paid to make it go away. That doesn't happen without fear of arrest/prosecution/conviction. 1. Not believing a victim of abuse and not believing a nutjob with an axe to grind are 2 entirely different things. 2. Like any rational, reasonable person, I don't believe any accusations without proof. 3. Domestic violence cases are very easy to prosecute. Physical injuries along with testimony from neighbors, coworkers, friends and family are more than enough proof. 'He said, she said' is not enough to prosecute, let alone convict. Nor should it be. The problem continues to be getting the victim to file charges. If the victim wont cooperate, there isn't much the 'system' can do. 4. Again, there is no complainant here. No one has come forward as a victim. The allegations are coming from political opposition. If You think political division and rivalry is bad here, its nothing compared to Russia. This kind of thing is childs play for them. Panarin: Putin sucks. I support his opponent. Putin puppet Nazarov: Panarin once beat a woman 10 years ago. The timing of my coming forward is completely coincidental. -

You're right. Professional athletes are never taken advantage of. All accusations of assault are true, without questions. And the vast majority of lawsuits filed against players are settled out of court because the complainants know they'll win. This case has nothing to do with domestic abuse, as it wasn't his gf. Also, domestic abuse is grossly underreported because the victims either feel a need to protect their significant other, or they're afraid of retaliation. Not because they fear they won't be believed. -

First off, there is no "victim" to believe here. No woman has come forward and accused him of anything. But if it did happen, and there's money to be had (cough, Patrick Kane), I am sure one will. And Panarin played for Nazarov. Don't know of any other Russian NHL players who played under Nazarov who have been publicly against Putin. This seems personal. -
Larionov was always a cerebral player. You can't teach that. Same reason Lids isn't coaching. Definitely not a goalie. BPA.

If Blashill is resigned, that would be a good thing. Re-signed? Not so much. -

I had to look it up to see if it's the same Andrei Nazarov that once played in the NHL back in the 90s. It is. All I can say is that this guy is as unstable as they come. He was that way as an NHL goon, and he's continued to be that way as a coach. He's even attacked fans at a KHL game with a stick. Not surprised he's a Putin fan and would not put it past him to fabricate such a story against an outspoken political rival. Straight out of the KGB playbook. Even if it was true: 1. It was 10 years ago. 2. It was before Panarin even played in the NHL. 3. He was never tried or convicted for it. 4. It was a Latvian woman, which is basically the same as a man anyway. -

It was 8 degrees F in Detroit today and the Wings win. Hell frozen over. For Sergei -
Whatever year there isnt any elite talent available is the year we get 1st pick. Thought you guys already knew this.
-
Agreed. But you cant just send all the underachieving vets down anymore. You still get stuck with most of their cap hit. It sucks for the kids, but that's what happens when you have a lot of dead weight.

UFAs: Staal, Filppula, Gagner, and Helm wont be back. Nemeth and Merrill will be, as the team will likely lose a D to Seattle. Glendening should be brought back.
-
Wow. The most generic, non-specific post I have ever seen.
-
Because he was. And it's not a stretch to conclude that the accusations stemmed from his political views. Maybe it did. Maybe it didn't. But let's not pretend like it doesn't happen. Tom Brady was just vilified at the Super Bowl because a MAGA hat was seen in his locker 4 years ago. And then falsely accused of a slur by an opposing black player during the game. But I'm sure his political views had NOTHING to do with that. I never said he was WAIVED or disciplined because of his opinions or politics. I insinuated there were allegations because there were. Widespread or not, people have been ruined by far less. And I insinuated that the allegations of racism were influenced by his politics. Nothing to earth shattering there. If DeAngelo said/posted/tweeted anything expressing right wing opinions or support for Trump, he is guilty of any number of prejudices by association. I also insinuated that false allegations of racism can and do hurt a person's reputation. Because they do. Was this specifically why he was cut? Not likely. But let's not pretend that it didn't hurt matters. It created more drama than what was already there. It added to the problem. And finally: Think about it. Why would such allegations be directed towards this specific person? If false, what would motivate someone to accuse him of it? His politics perhaps?
-
This Wasnt aware he could skirt the league's CoVid protocols they have in place to protect everyone.
-
Ok. I disagree with him. But I still dont care what his opinions are. He's still worth a shot.
-
What does this have anything to do with DeAngelo?
-
Evander Kane was never brought up in this conversation. Would have no reason to mention him. Don't know what 'opinions' DeAngelo even has. Only know he was accused of racist ones that can't be proven. Dont care what his opinions are. Dont care about Kane's either. If either could be had dor nothing, and it makes the team better, I am all for it.
-
You said "opinionated arsehole". That was meant to be derogatory. If it wasnt, then why use the term 'opinionated'? And What 'true colors' are you talking about? Opinionated and outspoken people also tend to be very passionate. This team needs 'passion' right now.
-
So is being opinionated a bad thing? Or just people whose opinions differ from yours?
-
Where exactly is Arg? Are there a lot of Caribbean Pirates there?
