Yes they do. CoVid 19 is generally transmitted thru respiratory droplets. Masks significantly reduce the amount of droplets infecting others from infected people. They aren't designed to protect the wearer. There has been multiple examples of infected people not spreading it to others because masks were worn. All mass spread events can be attributed to masks not being worn and/or not social distancing. What more evidence do you need? There's a reason why hospitals spend millions of dollars a year on them.

That's my point. It just so happened that in each of those drafts, when it was Holland's turn to pick in the 1st round, the BPA on HIS draft board was a forward. And that's who he picked. The idea that Holland was deficient in knowing what his team's needs were and that affected how he drafted is nonsense. That's what I was objecting to. Also, I thought I read somewhere that Hughes was going to be Holland's pick. Don't recall where. And to save myself the hassle of looking for it, I will just go with it being Bouchard. Either way, it was going to be a Dman.

I have a medical background, so we generally understand the easily grasped concept of how PPE works, so yeah. I have worn both a surgical mask and a face shield simultaneously for hours at a time. Most teams have 8 bottom six forwards on their roster. 3 3rd liners, 3 4th liners, and 2 reserve forwards of marginal talent. You realize that buying out Lundquist actually helps they're cap situation right? That's why they're doing it. They dont need to move Staal's one year contract to accommodate for that.

Except they were. Larkin, Mantha, and Rasmussen were literally the top player left on their draft board when it was Holland's turn to pick. Like I said, you cant complain at all about the first 2 (great picks relative to their draft position), and Moose may yet turn into a beast. Zadina was an outlier, as everyone know Holland was going to take Hughes until Zadina fell into his lap. If Holland had focused on D with his first pick those years, none of those guys would be on the team and you'd be complaining about our forwards.

Holland did a good job drafting recently. Larkin and Mantha were both steals and any other GM would have taken Zadina at 6. The jury is still out on how good of a pick Rasmussen turns out to be. Any "mess" left by Holland was due to contract extensions and free agent signings. The team was already in rebuild mode when Yzerman came in, and he isn't really doing anything differently now than Holland would have.

I think you overestimate other teams interest in certain players, even with salary retained. For example, if there is another team who is willing to take on a Staal's contract at 50% off from Yzerman, then why wouldnt the Rangers have just made that deal with that team originally? They could have then gotten significant cap relief without giving up the 2nd. I have to think that a team would be even more willing to take the salary retention if a 1st is involved than trade away the full contract. If Yzerman is going to be able to trade away any salary dumps, it won't be until the TDL. I have to think that if there was other interest to acquire said players for the season, they would have already made those trades with their original teams, as the asking price would be a lot less.

Offensively? No. But doesnt defense also require skills? Something Ehn is good at. You still have to have bottom 6 forwards. If you can fill those spots with young, inexpensive players who you drafted, coached, trained, and invested in, why wouldn't you? Seems logical to me.

Besides, the league already has revenue sharing and all the teams get the same amount from network contracts, Center Ice packages, etc. If your team makes less money than others on other sources of revenue like ticket sales, merchandise, etc; then do a better job of selling tickets and merchandise. Or is systemic oppression from the Original Six Supremacists to blame for some of these teams not doing as well?

He's not "dead weight". He's actually one of the guys that brings more than he's paid. These are the players you keep. Solid defensive forward (possibly the best on the team) and penalty killer and far younger and cheaper than Helm, Glenny, or Abby. Imagine how good he would be if his skills matched his hockey sense.
