13 year bump. Is that a record?
-
I would have done it. Then just buried Smith in GR.
-
Why the negativity? Staal would still garner a decent pick. He's on an expiring contract and most of his salary will have been paid by the TDL. No need to retain salary. Easy trade for a playoff team looking to bolster their D. Payback for Brendan Smith?

NFL woke Sunday or Red Wings talk. Hmmm. Did they ban your main account?

Nope. Not true. Markstrom GAA since 2014/15: 3.09, 2.73, 2.63, 2.71, 2.77 5 year average GAA= 2.79 Howard GAA since 2014/15: 2.44, 2.80, 2.10, 2.85, 3.07 5 year average GAA= 2.65 It wasn't until factoring in Jimmy's abysmal year this past season, that Markstrom's average is better over those seasons. Which is why I was pointing out the uselessness of judging both goalies long term based on one season. Jimmy has been better up until last season. Sorry. Also keep in mind that Jimmy was also over 30 during those seasons and Markstrom had the benefit of being in his prime years. When comparing GAA at similar ages you get: Howard at ages 25-30= 2.40 GAA Markstrom at ages 25-30= 2.78 GAA So yeah. Keep telling yourself that Markstrom is "better" and worth twice as much money and significantly longer term. Who is Sd?

Using our cap space to get assets

This is good. -
My point was that Howard has been a better goalie over his career than Markstrom and to write him off after this last season in favor of Markstrom is as wrong as writing off Zadina.

If there is a compliance buyout it could be Nielsen. Filppula only has one year left. He could be bought out with a small cap hit for 2 years.
-
I was advocating for this since he was acquired. 1 year at basically league minimum for a guy who will probably be more effective as a middle 6 center than Filppula or Nielsen have been.

Your belief that a lack of black or native players in the NHL has anything to do with racism is just wrong. If you offered free equipment, training, and coaching to 100 random black kids, they would overwhelmingly choose basketball and football over sports like hockey. That's not racism, it's culture. Certain groups of people prefer certain sports. Its a choice, not discrimination. In sports like hockey or baseball, the number of black players is low in comparison to the general population. True. But the percentage of black players in basketball and football is significantly higher than the general population. In reality, if you were to tally the number of individuals playing professional sports overall, you would find that the percentages of each race are similar to the general population. Systemic racism in sports, hockey, or the NHL, is a myth. Blacks are generously represented among professional athletes. The fact that percentages are higher in some sports and lower in others is due to culture and choice for the most part. To say that certain sports are "racist" based on demographics would be like accusing manufacturers of racism because their products are more popular among certain races than others. Our culture affects what products we buy, what food we eat, what sports we play. Not everything is about race.

So writing off Zadina after one season=bad Writing off Howard after one season=good And yes. I would rather have 1 year of Jimmy at 3 mil than 4 years of Markstrom at 24 mil.
-
Markstrom >Howard Markstrom at same salary and term>Howard at same salary and term Markstrom at twice the salary and 4 times the term < Howard at half the salary and 1/4 term Markstrom = Festiva Howard = Yugo Make sense now?
-
Yeah. And a Ford Festiva is a better car than a Yugo. Therefore, a Festiva is a good choice for a car. Especially at twice the price over a longer loan term.
-
So is hockey racist or not? You seem to be saying it's only selectively racist? Which makes no sense. Throw rice on the ice? You literally condemn racism while using racist references in your posts.
-
This seems very anti-diversity and hateful to me. I think the goal is to be more inclusive of all groups in the sport? BTW, you still didn't answer my question. If racism is an actual concern in hockey, then Why do certain races need more attention?
-
Because in their minds, anyone is preferable to Jimmy. I am not on the Markstrom bandwagon because he is probably going to get term and salary.
-
Making conclusions based on limited evidence, confirmation bias, and facts that have yet to be revealed? It's what all the cool kids are doing.
-
And why you suppose those 2 groups aren't included? Hmmmm. Let's see if you can figure it out.
-
BIPOC = Bipolar people of color? That seems oddly specific.
-
Lol. I make a Hungry Howies reference about Jimmy Howard and now we're discussing pizza for a whole page cuz there's nothing else hockey going on. 2020 sucks.

Followed up with more ads on the website.

Are we allowed to like any other pizza besides Little Caesar's in here?

It's not always about income. Hockey isnt a sport you can just run down to your local park and play. In a lot of communities (of any demographic), hockey rinks require a car/bus/subway/train ride to get to. It takes a lot more effort to play because access can be an issue. It's hard to get kids of any background to dedicate themselves to a niche sport like hockey, when there are easier mainstream options available.

Like when you were in school and dated a cute girl until she got fat, then you started dating the girl who hangs out with the kids from "Stranger Things".
