4/19 GDT - PEARSGOD RECALLED - Cup Champs v Wings

Greiss played really well. Should have been first star. -
How is that different than a trough?
-
I am speaking to why Ras got what he did at the time of his contract and why Zadina and Ras's situations are different. I am comparing 21/22 Zadina's contract situation to Ras's 20/21 contract situation. You are the one comparing 21/22 Zadina and 21/22 Ras, which is a completely different comparable.

A win? -
You had Seider pegged as a Chelios/Pronger/Lidstrom hybrid. Lets wait until he is winning multiple Norris trophies and other hardware before the "I told you so".
-
Zadina wasn't demoted for an entire season tho. Ras was. He wasnt NHL ready at 18. He got demoted for an entire season. Then played in only 40 games after being brought back up. Ras had proven less, as a full time NHLer, when he negotiated that 3 year contract.
-
Joe wasnt in diapers yet.
-
Ras had just finished a 40 game season. He spent the previous year in GR. Zadina has been up for over 2 years.
-
Don't worry. That's Vice President Harris's job now.
-
Ras had done less than Zadina when that deal was signed.
-
Zadina is not getting a 4 year deal. SY is not going to commit long term to an underachieving player. It will be a shorter term as he is still somewhat of an unknown in terms of his "final form". 3 years at most.1.75, 2.0 if 2 year deal.
-
Not really the same. Ras will make just under 1.5 next season and 1.9 the following season. Ras only had a shortened NHL season played after being demoted to GR for a year following his first NHL season. He had less to negotiate with. Zadina made the NHL full time at a younger age, and has played more. He has a full 21-22 season, a shortened 20-21 season, and a half season in 19-20 to his resume. His deal will most likely be 2-3 years. He may get less than 2 mil the first year, but not after that considering he has contributed more at the NHL level than Ras had when he signed his deal.
-
That is market value. No way he gets less than 2.
-
Imagine if all of Zadina, Berggren, and Veleno reached their full draft potential. They would be the perfect scoring line.
-
So Team USA is going to average 5 goals against then?
-
The expression is brass "tacks". Another side note: Ras is also a much bigger player, and was lanky and not a strong skater when he was drafted. It can take a while for the bigger players to develop physically too.

Forgot about Ras and Veleno. I would try either of them in the top 6 over Sundqvist. -
A top 6 forward and a middle 6 forward are not the same thing. I said he was not the former, that he was the latter. That's not a contradiction. I also never said he was Abby in terms of skill, nor did I say he would not be better in a comparable role. You advocate for spreading out the offense and not keeping all the best forwards on the top 2 lines. So if Soderblom is a for sure top 6 F, then why the opposition to playing him on the 3rd line? Isn't that accomplishing your point? .

I don't dislike. Sundqvist. From everything I ve read, he is exactly the kind of player you want on your team. I always liked Glenny too, but that doesn't mean I wanted him in the top 6. Sundqvist looks like a 3rd liner in the few games I have seen. I suppose you could put him on the 2nd line in a pinch. But as a winger, he plays behind Raymond, Bert, Vrana, Fabbri, Zadina, and Berggren IMO. -
The role you described for Soderblom is similar to what Abby's role was when he played on a line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Top 6: A forward who plays consistently on the 1st and 2nd forward lines. Middle 6: A forward that plays on the 2nd and 3rd forward lines. Generally do not play in a full time top 6 role. Better than a full time bottom six forward. I described Soderblom as a middle 6 at best. Which is where I think his ceiling is. I do not think he belongs in the top 6 full time. I don't the skill set is there to be considered a top 6 forward.
-
Anyone who thinks he belongs in the top 6. Abdelkader says "S'up?"
-
I think you guys are overestimating Soderblom. Middle 6 winger at best.
-
Good depth, but that roster isnt going to score enough to be a contender. Gonna need another 60+ point winger.
