Uh because he played horribly on the world stage against competition that should have been easy for him. The Worlds were a setback for him.
-
Edvinsson should have skipped the WJC altogether and focused on getting ready for training camp and the prospect tournament. There was literally no benefit to him going, and now he has actually hurt his value and chance to make the roster.
-
In other words: Neo is correct.

SY signed 3 F because the F prospect pool is likely not yet ready for full time NHL top 6/middle 6 duties. That doesn't make those players a weak pool. Also, those 3 F possess assets not yet present in the prospect pool. David Perron: RH, gritty top 6 RW with veteran leadership. No one like that in the prospect pool. Andrew Copp was brought in to fill the 2C position. The closest F prospects to the NHL are all wingers. Kasper is still a couple years away. Dominik Kubalik wasnt signed because there aren't any prospects capable of 3rd line duties very soon. He was signed because he is a low risk reclamation project that could pay off big. None of these signings really had anything to do with the quality of the prospect pool.

Aren't we all just scrubs with varying degrees of replacability?

Seider is not the "in your face" or "rah, rah, rah" type of leader. Their personalities may be different, but every Captain since SY has been more of a laid back, passive type leader. Seider is similar to Larkin. Kind of goofy, even a little bit awkward off the ice from what I've seen. Almost a wholesome "Goody 2 Shoes" type. Nothing wrong with that. Just a different persona than what he does on the ice.
-
Seider is more of a Lidstrom type off the ice tho. I expect any leadership he provides to be way more passive.
-
i don't get it if he can get to 40 points this season. I would consider that progress. as long as there is improvement. if he is stagnant or regresses, its time to move on.
-
This should be Zadina's last year to show a massive improvement.
-
That would be good roster management. Get a haul for Bert while being able to replace him.
-
This is what I would like to see for his development. Even if it's GR.

I don't remember Nielsen ever putting up to 2 prior 95 point seasons, a 73 pt season at 31, or coming fresh off being a catalyst for a Stanley Cup victory prior to signing his contract either. Kadri's contract will be fine for the first 2, maybe 3 years. After that, it will be awful. See my comments above. -
Why are u doing this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicklas_Lidström Lidström was the first European-born-and-trained captain of a Stanley Cup-winning team,
-
it wouldn't be the end of the world. unless he is beating out one of Seider, Chiarot, Maatta, or Hronek to earn a spot in the top 4, I would rather see him play 20+ min a night with some PP and PK in GR vs. less than 15 min a night in Detroit.
-
not sure if ur serious, but it was Lidstrom, dude

that's good value up front. sucks paying a player 7+mil after 35 tho. -
No Euro Captain ever won a Stanley Cup until...
-
I laugh at everything Scott Wheeler posts. Even if it is just reporting.
-
I think ur right. I do remember SY saying something about the interview when he drafted him. SY puts a lot of stock in the player interviews. He did it with Seider and Kasper too IIRC.
-
I suspect that scouts saw something in Walmart's technique/style that they had concerns about. Cossa seemed like the bigger boom/bust pick at the time, and still does now.
-
SY is infuriatingly masterful at answering questions without giving anything away. He never lets anyone else control the conversation and he never allows an interviewer to get him with leading questions. He says everything in such a way that there is no "reading between the lines". That is a skill.
-
He is a 3rd pair D. He's not supposed to.
-
The Hockey Guy had him going in the first round in his redraft.
-
Based on what has happened thus far, I don't see how anyone can objectively put Hughes or Zegras above Seider in a redraft. In a 10 year redraft, who knows? But it seems to me that Wheeler is still trying his best to minimize his complete wiff on Seider. Sebrango could be the new Lashoff for this team.

He was overpaid for years and now he's got his name on the Cup. Cake eaten. Well played, Darren. Well played.
