Oh, I know you'd argue. Rasmussen will be as good defensively as Veleno and probably better offensively. Debatable?Maybe. BUT Rasmussen's size and net-front game makes him "special". He's going to do all the things I'm alluding to when I say he'll be good defensively and he'll hold his own 5-on-5 offensively while also carving himself out a very important niche role of PP net front monster. Something he should be elite at vs the rest of the league. No part of Veleno's game is that special.

The only forward with a higher ceiling in Zadina. But I'm less and less sure he'll get there. I think Veleno will be a very good defensive forward but, like many amatuer scouts, I'm not sold on his offensive production at the pro level. I've said all this before. Also, saying he has size advantage sort of sounds dismissive. It's like saying Larkin's only better than Rasmussen because he has a skating advantage. An advantage is an advantage.

I said rounds 2 - 7. Means "inclusive". And plenty of guys have come out of the 2nd round. So far on this Wings team I only see Hronek and Bertuzzi. With regards to the 2nd bold. See where that puts this team in terms of drafting and prospect development and ask if you're truly happy with this having suffered through most crappy on-ice products since basically 2014. I think he meant coach? I'm starting to form a revisionist opinion of Holland's later years of drafting now. Which will get supernova harsh if several of Zadina, Svech, Veleno, Cholowski, Rasmussen are flops and no true gems (other than Hronek) emerge from rounds 2-7.

See I think it has more to do with the fact that the Canucks came out of the post 2014 draft with Boeser, Petterson, and Hughes vs Svechnikov, Rasmussen, and Zadina Those three Canucks players are very much moving the needle for them .

Other than the 2013 and 14 drafts the Canucks and Wings have been on similar rebuild paths. With similar draft positions. Even in 2013 and 2014 the Wings got Mantha + Larkin which compares well with Horvat + Virtanen But the two teams were night and day last night and last week. It's actually depressing.

I know he scored last night but is Cholowski going to really be any good? Is Svechnikov? Zadina? Veleno? Rasmussen? Maybe all we've gotten from the last 4 drafts will only add up to be Hronek and Seider. Am I crazy for feeling this way?
