Fair enough. Like I said though, neither Florida or Vegas will be back. I want a Tampa team: (almost) elite center + elite winger + elite 1D + elite goalie + amazing depth. How do we get that?

Eichel for sure. He's way better than I even thought. Should have won the Conn. But say he's not. I don't see either Vegas or Florida as the type of team who'll be back in the finals anytime soon. For many different reasons. I'd say they're both one and done.

If you want a large contention window you need both If you want a one and done run like the 2011 Bruins or 2019 Blues then you can do it with alchemy and a bit of luck. If I'm going to wait 10 years between playoff appearances there better be a window vs a one-off No offence, but I think people tell themselves you don't need superstars to win the cup when they're really just trying to cope with not having any.

They're most likely trying to figure out what may be out there in UFA or what they're willing to cough up in another goalie trade OR are waiting to see what assets they end up giving up for Player X before making a goalie deal. There's no way management actually wants Ned of Hellberg back. Nor do I

Yzerman has stated that they have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out what to do about Ned and Magnus. So they aren't necessarily gone yet.

So pick a year during V-dog's prime and give us you're totally unbiased list of "top 5 goalies" then. Fromm 89 to 95 only Roy and Brodeur were better. Barrasso and Vernon were equals. Richter was a half-step below, Hasek and Belfour were ascending. All these guys are now in the HOF and deservingly so. Including Vernon. -

I’m with stupid ^ In fact I’m not sure Yzerman would go 8x8 in free agency let alone cough up big time assets to get him. Also f*** Ottawa if they’re looking for Detroit’s 9OA. Just cuz they f***ed up trading for a guy everyone knew wouldn’t stay in that s***-hole doesn’t mean they get to recoup what they lost.
