*sigh* I'm with you man. I was merely trying to illustrate how insanely ridiculous it is to have 50M in cap space......Ydawg could sign Hyman just to troll Holland or Armstrong if he wanted.
-
Gazillion tons of cap space 12 draft picks A glut of UFA options A dozen teams in cap hell A handful of teams looking to trade really good players

Seattle Expansion Draft: Who you pick?

svechnikov has been given way more of a chance than either of those guys though -

They do have to get to the 60M floor after alll. -
Yzerman could sign Hamilton, Hyman, and Grubauer + extend Bertuzzi and Vrana at 5.5 per and still have 20M left to spend on 7 - 8 plugs. That's how much space he has. It'll be 6 years before Raymond or Seider will be making the big pay. Larkin ain't getting a raise and it remains to be seen if guys like Htonek or Zadina will ever be more than 5M/per players. He shouldn't. and won't. But signing Hyman would be to Detroit's cap what one beer was to Andre the Giant. I'm trying to put Yzerman's nearly 50M in cap space into contect here.
-
Yzerman could sign Hyman if he wanted to and it would basically have zero impact in the Wings long term cap situation. I just can't see why he would.
-
Erne to TO for Nylander confirmed........ Also what you said is basically what I said. Good GMs find Hyman types without overpaying for them during UFA. But if you want a Ramussen type, you best pony up a top 10 pick........
-
If we're going for a stinky old LHed vet to play with Seider then sign me up for the guy who played like a beast this post season on a broken foot (assuming the foot doesn't eff him up this season).
-
I mean you obviously need Hyman types to win. Good GMs (BriseBois) get their Coleman's and Goodrow's through gutsy trades. Lazy GMs overpay for guys like Hyman. Watch Yzerman sign him now........
-
Seems like a guy like Hyman comes along every now and then and a bunch of teams tie bags of money to their boners. He's basically this year's David Clarkson or even Abdlekader.
-
No fresh facts here or anything, but to see it in writing is really staggering: Wing's have 49M in cap space. Next closest is Buffalo with 34M. They have 12 picks in 2021 draft. 5 in the first 2 rounds. How in actual fuc can Yzerman not do something amazing over the next 2-3 weeks?

Classic.

Dreger still believes the Wild are going to make an offer for Eichel https://www.tsn.ca/NHL/video/insider-trading-whats-next-for-the-wild-after-buying-out-parise-~2240888

Kaprizov and Fiala can sing RFA bridge deals to help get the team through the mud. There would most likely be salary going the other way in a trade. Rask's 4M comes off the books next year. yada yada Even with the Parise and Suter's dead cap, the Wild have 26M this year and next year in cap space. They were rumored to be a favorite to land Eichel before the buyouts. The cap space hasn't really changed that much with these buyouts. Don't see how it's impossible.
-
Well loooggout cuz he has approx.15M left to spend on only 4 players
-
Suter's averaged 0.5 PPG over the last 2 COVID seasons. I can easily see someone giving him 3M x 2.
-
Wonder if the Wild are taking a hard run at Eichel...........
-
Imagine being Holland today. Suter could be had for less than Keith is being paid without giving up assets. He's also younger and better
-
The Athletic: Wild to buy out Parise and Suter per sources It's reverse 2012
-
Yzerman strike you as the reactionary type?
-
*** that trade. Not sure I'd do Bert for Reilly 1:1 Also, of course Leaf fans wan Bert. He has a spine. An elusive quality in Leaf's land. If Yzerman trades Bertuzzi it will be for someone younger or, like mentioned, part of a bigger trade.
-
Yzerman's a BPA guy. That much is on record. So yeah, he'd totally take both goalies if he thought they were the best available at 6 and 22. Unless he's lying when he says this From this https://theathletic.com/950269/2019/04/27/steve-yzerman-qa-on-draft-strategy-analytics-and-a-couple-of-top-prospects-in-detroits-range/

Oh no. Who are you going to slum it with now?
-
I can't wait to draft Edvinsson in the 6 spot.
