I agree with all of this. I don't think any of these guys are that #1 championship caliber center you want. IMO Yzerman has started to fill some important voids. Guys like Seider and hopefully Raymond will be important pieces. So now, do you start rolling the dice and take the highest ceiling centers with your early picks? Do you pass on Power, Guenther, Wallsted types (aka BPA types) to draft for need? -

Another thing to consider is the competition. The Lightning, Bruins, Capitals, and Penguins should all start their decline over the next few years. But what about the Leafs, Canes, Islanders, and Panthers? Not to mention teams like Ottawa and NYR who will maybe be right there competing with Detroit. -

Yeah. I just never imagined Mantha as being part of this team's real future. And I couldn't imagine getting more for him either. Tatar is better than Mantha. I would argue Mantha fetched a better return. I don't think Yzerman fleeced the Caps. But I think it was a good trade. Worthy of an A grade on it's own. Buying a 4th for 250k was also great.

It's just incredible. And awful. That ******* conehead's only goal is to grind out 2-1 wins and he's scared to play someone like Geno because he might make a defensive mistake.
