Agreed. BPA according to Wright and his staff not Button, MacKenzie, and LGWs. Point being, I believe they thought Rasmussen was BPA at 9 last year. Didn't get much affirmation around here. -

I was mostly yankin yer chain. I do think he's a little slow though. Sort of reminds me of what Brendan Smith could have been if he wasn't such a lazy dum-dum -
f*** need. This is a full rebuild. You go BPA. Always. If they think the Finn is that guy, then go to it. If it’s Wallstrom. Giddy up too. People can try and make this yet another Holland thing but It’s all about Wright and his staff. I like their last 4 drafts and this year will be no different. I still think they take Hughes or Dobson.

Krsmith's boy Theodore having a bad game. Sort of glad the Wings never traded for him. Seems slow. Both of foot and of mind. -

Pinning a lot of hope on just one draft no? It's going to take a few to turn this ship around. -

Why? Other than the way he shoots. This organization lacks skilled play making center prospects. And by "lacks" I mean they have none. They're better set up on D. And that says something. If you think they can grab someone later in the first/early second, fine. But I think the need is being underrated around these parts. Well put. I didn't realize he was another half winger type. I just think that highly skilled pure center prospects are needed in a bad way. -

Drafting players based on which way they curve their stick is stooooopid. Unless you're breaking a tie. edit: plus left/right shot matters more for wingers and D than centers. -
John Carlson's made me a believer. I think he's a legit #1 D and, rebuild or not, would have zero issue with Kenny giving him 7 x 8. ZERO. edit to add: it totally won't happen or anything, just saying that I like him.

Any particular reason? Craig Button's last mock draft has him going 8th. So it wouldn't be a huge reach no? Word is the Wings are sniffing around in his direction a bit. They like his play making and he plays a half-heavy game too. If they were to swap 6 and 8 with the Hawks and get Chicago's #27 (via Nashville) and end up taking the Finn, I'd be OK with that. edit: spelling -
Well, what would you expect from a team that passed on Pavel Datsyuk SEVEN TIMES in the 98 draft?
-
Fulcher Pretzel Larsson Surely to crap one of these kids can become a legit #1?
-
I wonder if the "player coach" phenomenon can be directly related to how young teams have become over the years. Guys like Bowman were needed to f*** with the heads of veterans and keep them motivated. Kids right out of Jr might rather play for someone who's more fun to be around? I don't know......just thinking out loud here. Edit: spelling

Point proven I'm sure. BUT this scares the living beeejeeezuzzzzz out of me about how easy it could be to miss on a prospect at #6

Seems like the best thread for this little nugget. Interesting to note that Detroit also has an assistant coaching vacancy.

All guys drafted after Nill took the GM job in Dallas and Holland hired Tyler Wright as Director of Amatuer Scouting.

Personally, I agree. Just seems like I see names like Bouchard and Hughes thrown around more frequently in the 6 spot. Whether it be mock drafts or from "diggers" like Ansar Yawn and Helen St. Lame. -
Cap to go up as much as 7M Just enough to help the Leafs sign Tavares lol

My sleeper at 6 is Dobson. Just won the Memorial Cup, and he's from my stomping grounds. Slightly riskier pick but maybe a higher ceiling than Bouchard. -
Those were Jim Nill picks. Nill drafted Kindl.

But mostly for his stupid goatee.

That was hard to read. Loved the Mule and totally understood that hos decline in play was related to head injuries. It was so obvious at the time. Also, f*ck Gary Roberts.

Calling it now: I think the Wings get a perennial 30 goal scorer and a legit top 2 d-man in this draft. They are due for some draft luck and with 8 picks in the first three rounds I think they hit on a couple at least. -

Here's a fun fact. In the 2004 entry draft the first player selected by the Wings was Franzen. 3rd round. 97th overall. This year they'll pick 7 times before selection 97 and their 8th pick is at 98. How can you not be excited about that? Edit: spelling
