Except Yzerman doesn't have to do that now because Rasmussen exists. Now let's go to work getting a Suzuki or Necas in the 10 - 20 range. How hard can that be? They both went 10 - 20 in what is apparently one of the crappiest drafts evah.........

Agreed. Problem is, with this year's draft, you'll be assuming risk with whatever potential center or even player you take at 6. No different than any draft I guess.

Find positives? You have a guy that can play both PP and PK and can be a beast on the forecheck? Sounds like a great pick to me. My main issue is that it seems like people have unrealistic ideas about expected value based on draft positon. Especially with a unique player like Rasmussen.

K. Let's undo the Seider draft? Also Zadina and Raymond are small. Like it or not this team needs a guy like Rasmussen. More than they need a Veleno even! If you want a special guy with size then yes. You need to draft high.

And it's a harder hole to fill then some think. Like the kind of player you sometimes burn a top 10ish or 10-20th 1st rounder on. So we're not far off as far as draft value goes. IMO

Well from my understanding he can issue a 30 day notice mid-July announcing his intention to become a free agent. So we'll maybe know in 3 weeks.

Makes no sense. Overage, unproven goalie is going to let the start of his career hinge on whether or not the Wings draft another goalie who is most likely 3 years away from playing in the NHL.
