I think the NHL want shim to make a bad call so they can fire him. No bigger test for a screw-up than the play-offs. Side note: if the Wings get swept in the first round, I will probably die of lack of oxygen due to screaming at the TV non-stop. Who? Besides Kronner and Z

ON GAME DAY! NO QUESTION!!!
-
Say both Hasek and Kipper are injured in Game 1. Who has the edge then? Can you name Cal's backup?
-
Definitely the highlight of the week for the NHL. Must suck to be a Leafs fan though. I bet they were pissed that Broduer wasn't starting. I like the shootout, but I am glad that the Cup or a series is not going to be decided by it.

MILD concussion. Which means headaches and possibly blurred vision. Unlike the more commonly known Scott Stevens/Paul Kariya type concussion, trouble coordinating arms and legs, delayed reflexes, as well as headaches, nausea, and vomiting. I suspect that his brain just got a small bruise, not the kind boxers or Lindros has gotten, just a contact bruise, which is enough to make you not want to move around to much for a couple days.

People in my office are wondering what the hell I am laughing at. HILARIOUS!!!

Not a big deal. He still has time. And the holiday weekend probably didn't help his chances of getting it done before today. Probably spent time with the fam over getting easy clearance. (crosses fingers)

Is 12 good for my first?

Of those listed, Z is the only one that I am worried about. The others were given breaks for unimportant games and they made up injuries in order to fill the roster spots and call up players. Hasek is NOT Curtis Joseph. Datsyuk was injured last play-offs, and was pretty much our whole offensive plan. Now is a little different, Z is bigger and better, and the addition of Bert and players getting hot at the right time (Calder, Sammy, Markov, Lang) we are the best team heading in the 2nd Season.

One good game doesn't make me want anyone on the team, nor does one good season. Consistency wins my vote.

Yeah, Channel 8 on Comcast. They usually play college and minor league hockey on it. As well as other local sports. Cool that they can pick up the slack if the Wings/Tigers/Pistons conflict on any night.

WINGS IN 5!!! W, W, L, W, W Dats= 6 goals, 4 A Hank= 2 goals, 8A Bert= 1 goal, 3A Lids= 1 goal, 4A Homer= 1 goal, 2A Schneider= 1 goal, 3A Markov= 1 goal, 2A Lilja= 2 fighting majors That's all I have the guts to predict. GO WINGS!!!

Prediction?.... PAIN! Beat up on each other. Hell, go nuts for 7 games. I think you should try to injure every player on their roster. I'm sure they won't even try to injure you back. I think I heard them say that Nashville and all their fans are light in the loafers and smell like bad cheese. Just what I heard. Also, Joe Thornton and Jon Cheechoo apparently said something about a train and all the players' wives. I don't know, maybe they are planning a trip through the hills of Tennessee. Anyway... GO GET 'EM!

How come they don't know the time for game 4?

I don't see what the big deal is, the Wings win on this one, not Pavel. Yeah, he is getting paid good money, but he has HUGE pressure and obligation to be the TOP Wing for those 7 seasons. And if he isn't, he gets traded for a couple players to a smaller market team (hello Carolina, I'm looking at you). The contract tells me more about his DEVOTION to THIS team, not his greed. No one signs 7 year deals, you know why? Because no one wants to sign 7 year deals in case they want to leave some day. But Pavel has signed a "lifetime" contract in some ways. He will not be an "elite" player at 35, but he will have his best seasons as a Wing, or he will be out of here. Wings don't lose anything in this one, no draft picks, no minor league players. They only gain a hungry, talented player with something to prove to all his nay-sayers, or half of the fans of Hockeytown.

I hate the "not a play-off performer" excuse. He is the best regular season offensive performer on the WIngs and even if he is an OK play-off performer and not the BEST playoff performer, Hank is right there with him. I have NO problem with this deal. Keep him around and give him a chance. If he doesn't, I'm sure there isn't a no trade clause with this long contract, BUT GIVE HIM A CHANCE!

If the NHL wants popularity and growth in the TV market, they need a legitimate team to win the Cup this year. Although Cinderella stories (Edmonton, Carolina, Calgary, Anaheim and Giguere) are fun for hockey fans, the apparent lack of interest from the general American sports fan only highlights the U.S's uninterest in the game. The additions of a Finals team not even making the play-offs the next season only reinforces the unsellability (my word) of the game. The Red Wings are the answer. They are always leading in jersey sales. They always sell out on the road. They are the most marketable and successful team of the last 15 years. Plus, they are an Original Six team. Hockey will always be profitable in Canada, but that is not what the sport needs. A Canadian Cup winner would be heaven for many, but will only set back the game in the States. Who would really watch a San Jose v. Buffalo Final? Not most Americans who watch hockey only semi-regularly. A team like the Wings is a draw all over the nation, and the best shot the NHL has is a Wings team in the Finals. I know the NHL cannot dictate who plays in the Finals, but if they could, I'm sure the Wings would be their best bet.

Jagr was quick 17 years ago, I thought we were picking players in their prime.

HA! OWNED! He's regular ray of sunshine today. He's also got a BAN THIS PERSON thread.

I feel the same, except that Bettman feels that it IS important to be as big as the NBA and he is hurting the game to do it. I would like 24 teams, but I will get 32 first I think.
