Can anyone justify booing Sergei during a shoot-out attempt and not booing Vyborny or Kesla? Boo all of them or none of them. Detroit, New Jersey, and Dallas are the answer. The salary cap did great to improve competition, but killed the marketability and possibility of a franchise team to improve the NHL's look in the media. Teams like the 70s Islanders, 80s Oilers, 90s Penguins, and SC Wings are now impossible teams.

Here's my knock-on-wood moment. If the Wings were to get a 3-0 lead on a team, would Babcock risk an unecessary injury? Even if Oz is "cold", he still is practicing with the team and is a relatively good goalie in the play-offs. Plus, if he would lose the game 4, Hasek would be rested for game 5. I know there would be no b2b games in the SCF, but I have a feeling that I have seen b2b games in early rounds, unless I am thinking of the Olympics or something. And if Hasek or Babcock doesn't feel like risking it, Osgood is the best back-up in the league (Mason, Bryzgalov, and Nabokov don't count, they are 1Bs)

Everyone knows that they are, so no, they are guilty in the media and that is all it takes, ask OJ. I want the NHL to be a 30 contender organization (with the Wings as the best, of course) but that won't sell the game to the media and the casual fan. If the Wings went on a 30 game winning streak scoring 10 goals a game, that would draw more ratings than 30 2-1 games. I'm sorry, but winners promote sports, I wish it was the competition of the sport like the NCAA March Madness, but that won't happen for the NHL. I would love to see a 4 team in each conference play-off series, but if the Wings keep going in the play-offs as opposed to going out in the first round, I don't mind watchig hockey for 2 more months.

It was no fun because the fans knew the players were greedy and were sick and tired of them after the LOCKOUT and CONTRACT DISPUTES. It took a homerun race between steroid users to bring the game back to life, not the Yankees not winning the Series. The Wings are the Cowboys and Yankees of hockey. More fans over the entire country and most hated team by rival fans. Ratings will be higher with the Wings in the finals. And you have a very original name.

Do the Rangers have more selling power than the Wings? Other than being in the largest city in the U.S. what do they have over the Wings? I don't see Ranger jersey's at Columbus v. Nashville games or at LA v. Anaheim games.

So what Montreal has the biggest, that doesn't matter. They sell out every night and they are a mediocre team. But the Wings are an elite team, even when they are on the road they sell out buildings that are half empty every other night. I think 40k is a reasonable number considering the selling power of the Wings. That would also allow for lower ticket prices (if Illitch gives the fans a break and decides not all of us are rich). All I am saying is that more than 20,066 people want to go to a Wings game, and the max. attendance should show that. More seats = more $ for Illitch.
