I voted for the Hawks. Seem to do well when we eliminate the past season's winner.

Prediction: Wings 4 (Lidstrom, Z, Modano, Flip) Leafs 2 (who cares)

Canadian team?

The shot total is ridiculous. And how was that game not a sell-out? I know that no one knew what was going to happen, but come on, it was the last time they would play before the play-offs, the chances were pretty good.

This is just for fun. One of those lesser of five evils polls.

Not really about xenophobia. More about how there are no successful ones. I've never been called a xenophobe, but the truth is I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and all the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called 'patriotism'.

Illitch "definitely committed" to new downtown arena
Wings_Dynasty replied to Jenny's topic in General
It should have a name that goes with the city. It always pissed me off that General Motors Place was in Vancouver. I just don't want a sh*tty corporate named tied to the Wings that doesn't make sense other than they pay however many million a year to have their name on the outside of the building. Tampax Center. Amazon.com Place. Purina Arena... I wouldn't mind that last one. -
Awesome Modano quote regarding a recent visit with war veterans

Nice. -
Defensive pairings are iffy, but those top 3 lines... wow.

1. Vancouver 2. Capitals 3. Hawks

Pre-Season 9/22 GDT: Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins
Wings_Dynasty replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I need to see these fights. Sounds like Downey lost and did Bert even have a "fight"? -
Kari Lehtonen doesn't wear his Chuck Norris mask, it wears him
Wings_Dynasty replied to NotTooAbby's topic in General
Genius. Stars win the Cup and Lehtonen goes 82-0. I quit. It's been fun being a Wings fan. This sport is officially ruined. -
Pretty good chance that Rafalski will be it. I can see Salei as well. That's for defense. For forwards, probably Hudler and the other lower level guys, Eaves and Helm come to mind. It would take a lot for Pavel or Hank to get to the Sammy level of scapegoatery. But Franzen is the more realistic high-level forward to catch the heat from this forum. Bertuzzi is definitely going to get the most "boos" from this place, he could lead the league in hits, fights, and goals and people would still complain about his speed and grittiness not being what it was in VAN. Also, Ozzie will get it as a backup because, well, he always gets heat unless he leads us to the finals.
-
YAY! Rafalski hurts the top pairing. Two playmakers doesn't make sense unless it's a powerplay, and Rafalski should be paired with a shooter.

If this is true and he wants a Cup, only one of those options really qualifies doesn't it.

After watching the World Cup the past week or so I have found myself hating that vuvuzela. This GIF illustrates my hate: Has anyone ever gone to a game (most likely away) and seen so many people engaging in such an idiotic display of pride for their team? The TooToo train whistle immediately jumps to mind. Has anyone ever experienced something that goes over their head and ruins your experience of the game?

That all looks great, but Nieuwendyk: Calder Trophy - 1988 King Clancy Memorial Trophy - 1995 Conn Smythe Trophy - 1999 NHL All-Star Game - 1988, 1989, 1990, 1994 Winter Olympics gold medal - 2002 Stanley Cup - 1989 (Calgary Flames), 1999 (Dallas Stars), 2003 (New Jersey Devils) 3 Cups vs. 0 Cups. Doesn't mean much to some since other players have Cups and no individual awards, but doing it on 3 different teams is something. Plus, he was nominated and WON awards.
-
Oates and Mark Howe haven't done enough to get in. Gilmour has a Cup. Makarov should be allowed in just for international play, his NHL play was above average but nothing special. By far the most decorated Calder winner ever.

Can one lose what one never possessed?

I think he was going for the high score. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related Seems like the place for their horse units, but ATVs make sense too.

The only full season I watched of the NBA was in 2004-05 when the Pistons and the Spurs played in the finals and the Spurs won the title. Guess why.
