My lines for game 7. Franzen-Dats-Z Cleary-Flip-Bert Miller-Helm-Eaves Ericsson-Abdelkader-Homer Lids-Kronner Rafalski-Stuart Draper-Lilja That's right. That just happened.

Lidstrom's last game!?!?!?! ...
-
I would just put him on the first PP unit with Lidstrom, have him pinch (he was a forward) and Lids play back on the line. Release the kraken, and by kraken I mean slapshot.
-
All I am trying to say is that when Schneider is in their lineup, their PP is better than ours simply because Rafalski lacks a point shot.

WCQF Game 6 GDT: Coyotes 5 at Red Wings 2

Here's my impression of Babcock. "Well, he just have to play harder. We had a lot of chances and didn't get any luck. We gotta play better in front of Howie and he has took make some saves. I just hope that Atlanta is ready for me to take over next season. I plan on putting Kovalchuck on the point during the PK and trading for Jason Williams. because he looked good in that jersey." -

Post. I can live with that from Lilja since he is expected to be at the blueline. -

Or Abdelkader. He's gonna get suspended for that hit anyway. Elbows up at the head and the player looking away, that's what that new rule was created for. -

Alright Bertuzzi. Break someone's neck. I need some kind of highlight to watch for tomorrow, even if it is on CNN. -

Our PK is horrible. Who'd a thought that Schneider and Lang would come back to haunt us. I cringe when they have the puck. -

This is the worst post season game the Red Wings have played since 2003. -

Defensive parings: Rafalski-Kronwall Stuart-Lilja Ericsson-Lebda Ugh...
-
If the whistle was blown every time something dangerous happened games would take all day. The rule makes sense. Say that Jimmy doesn't get that save and it goes off his mask (which falls off) and goes in the net. That goal counts. I actually remember the rule going in the Wings' favor a couple years ago. May have even been in the playoffs. Shot went off the goalie mask, which fell off, and then the puck was put in the net by a Wing. The rule was explained and the reasoning was that even if the mask had stayed on the goalie wouldn't have been able to make the save anyway.
-
Not if they're out in 5.
-
I think he just needs a great goal to get him going. The one a couple games ago where he roofed it on a hard wrister seemed like it could be a spark, but nothing came from it. Maybe one more good goal will do the trick.

I think that if your name is not Kronwall or Stuart there is no reason for you to pinch in as a defenseman on the Red Wings when the opposing team has the puck. When I see Brian Rafalski step up on a forward coming at him along the boards with the puck I cringe because only 2 things can happen: a. The forward decides to play hockey and throws an elbow in his face and continues on past the small heap that momentarily slowed him. b. The forward chips the puck past him and continues on with speed and another forward, forcing Lidstrom's +/- and legend down. Ericsson and Lilja don't have the speed to get back of they step up and miss. Lidstrom doesn't hit. Stuart and Kronwall are not as fast as Rafalski, but their hitting ability compensate (meaning they know when they should step up and when it is a mistake). Pinching in on a potential offensive play is another scenario. However, you must have puck handling ability. Leave that to Lidstrom and Kronwall. Rafalski makes poor decisions when pressured at the line, Lilja isn't offensive minded, Stuart is more defensive minded, and Ericsson should just wait at center ice and prevent break-aways. The Yotes forwards are fast. If the defense continues to pinch to attempt hits, we will continue to see fast breaks and 2 on 1s.

If they don't win this game (ON HOME ICE!!! WITH LAST CHANGE!!! AND TWO DAYS WORTH OF SHAME SET IN!!!) I don't know what should change this summer but something will NEED to change. Wings 3 (Dats, Lids, Tuz) Yotes 2 (don't care) -
I like the change. Babs can look at the bench and say "who wants to win it?"
