I say they move to the Wolverines' pond (Crisler Arena). 13,751 attendance, close to Detroit and more likely to sell out due to the fact that it is in a college town where people can buy a ticket and walk to the game. But the Palace is more likely.

I think Bob McKenzie just says what he thinks the typical Canadian fan wants him to say. I'm not bashing Canadians, I am just saying that Canadians typically like a more hard-nosed type of game and McKenzie will comment on questionable hits, players, and league decisions as such. He is very smart about the game, just too tilted for me to be able to take most of the things he says seriously. I do aree with him on some issues (rarely) but most of the time he is just blowing smoke. His knowledge is not in question, only what he decides to talk about and the stances he takes on certain issues. Buccigross on the other hand comments on the game more like an insider who is speaking to both hardcore fans and someone who may have clicked on the wrong link looking for NBA scores. He promotes the game enthusiastically and most of the time speaks from a "how can the game be better" POV.

He is one of the maybe 3 NHL commentators between ESPN and TSN whose opinion or analysis I read and actually take seriously.

I agree with this. I have McCarty and Draper on my list of 11. Mac for his playoff performances and his regualar season role as enforcer. Draper at one point was both the best face-off man and part of the best PK tandem in the NHL. Between 1998-2009 if there was a faceoff in the defensive zone in the playoffs, odds are Draper was taking it. And that may still be true today.

Red Wings sweep Vancouver in first round, commentators suggest lucky bounces and streaky goaltending helped advance to next round and see a fall for the Wings against the Predators. Mikael Samuelsson finishes with 0 points, -23 rating, and 92 SOG over 4 games. 5. Pittsburgh Penguins advance with NHL record 14 goals taken back from opposing team. Some suggest conspiracy, Pierre Maguire applauds veteran officiating. 6. Red Wings sweep Predators in second round, commentators suggest opponent was burnt out due to travel of previous round. Johan Franzen scores 13 goals in 4 games. Jimmy Howard records 2 shutouts. 7. Niklas Kronwall catches Jordin Tootoo with his head down. The hit makes SC top 10 and CNN's viral video segment the next morning. 8. Wings sweep SJ Sharks in WCF. Announcers swear that the Wings are the best team in the post season and reference several quotes they made in October. 9. Wings sweep Penguins. Cup hoisted in JLA. After initial victory lap Lidstrom hands Cup to Howard. Howard skates to opposing blueline and sets Cup on ice on its side. Penguins players watch with astonishment as Howard takes off all of his clothing and begins to make love to the Cup. Howard points at Crosby and keeps a very uncomfortable constant eye contact with him. After putting his gear back on, he skates the Cup over to Crosby, puts it in his hands and says "It told me that I #*&$% better than you." Then he skates off the ice. I die of laughter.

IMO, it would take an injury of both Kane and Toews or both Keith and Seabrook for the Wings to catch them. And the Wings would need to win every game and the Hawks to lose more than they should. I think that Nashville is a more reachable goal and more important since their fans would never shut up about it while the Hawks fans never shut up as it is. EDIT: A first round sweep of the Hawks (by any team) is what I asked Santa for this year.
