If he could GET THE PUCK UP The Monster might not be such hot sh!t.

These are the same people who will be bitching about conspiracies against Canadian teams when the Wings make the playoffs and their team doesn't.
-
Toronto doesn't need another team, they can barely handle having one.

Is Brian Burke a member here?!?!?!

Rougher Conference?East or West?
Wings_Dynasty replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
In terms of fighting: East. In terms of physical play: West. -
Ugh...

I think this year's team will be harder to contain. We will have 4 solid lines, instead of 2 top-heavy ones. Our defense will be better, I think that once the 6th man is decided we will have a solid 3 lines. Power-play will be good, 3 guys to stand in front of the other team's goalie is great to have. I will say that our goaltending is lesser. Not in terms of Ozzie, but his back-up. Conklin was the best back-up in the league last year. I just don't know if Howard has got "it."

Wings don't win the conference, but whoever does goes out in the first round. Chicago makes it to the playoffs and is eliminated in the first round. Datsyuk gets over 110 points; Cleary, Franz, Bertuzzi all have great years, but the surprise is Zetterberg who gets 50 goals. (He is nominated for the Hart, but, by law, an Eastern player has to win). Howard gets about 25% of the starts, has a decent record. Maybe something like 13-8-3. Post season sees the Flames, Stars, and then the Nucks. Then the finals with the Caps. Wings win in 6.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Never seen that one before.

Haha. I guess I forgot to mention that if they were both in their primes. Like we had a time machine and brought them to today and had them play.
-
This is very theorhetical, but I think that in their time period, the line mentioned were the most dominant. However, the 2002 Wings roster would hand the 1972 Canadian team their ass if they played now. The game has gotten so much faster and goaltending so much better. I think it would be a blowout. THe

Not realistic, but my NHL 09 order: Pavel Z Bertuzzi Franzen Lidstrom My expected lineup: Pavel Z Bertuzzi Williams Franzen, Flip, Leino, whoever is hot at the moment
-
FWIW, my new NHL09 lines. Cleary-Pavel-Hank Franzen-Flip-Bertuzzi Homer-Draper-Maltby Eaves-Helm-Williams The 3rd and 4th lines are a little odd, but I think Babs will do something like this. Homer-Z-Pavel Franzen-Flip-Bertuzzi Cleary-Draper-Helm Maltby-Leino/Williams-Eaves

Downey was 20.

E5 rumor: that pic is hilarious.

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi
Wings_Dynasty replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
Aren't we already over the cap? I mean, I'm not sure how I feel about Bertuzzi coming back because I just can't tell how he will fit into the system, but as I see it we are already about 400K over, so now we are looking at being 1.9M over, right? Unless there is some structuring magic going on in this 1 year deal, are we going to have to drop 2 players to compensate? -
Here are my NHL 09 lines, FWIW: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Cleary-Flip-Franzen Eaves-Helm-Leino Abdelkader/Williams-Draper-Maltby Not what I would suggest in real life, but they work in the game. I go with two scoring lines, a shut down line, and a "let the other lines rest" line. But I try to keep one completely offensive player on each line to keep them a little dangerous in the offensive zone.

Ok, really even, but slight nod to Sammy. Williams is more clutch in shootouts, but Sammy has a better shot. Williams is a faster skater, but Sammy made less mistakes. However, in the playoffs, I pass the puck to Sammy over Williams.
-
Beautiful.
-
Whose word?
-
If we win every game 1-0 we only score 82 goals. I'm fine with that.
-
Here's how I see it, assuming we sign Hudler and Sammy. Z-Dats-Homer Franz-Flip-Sammy Cleary-Draper-Helm Maltby-???-Leino Right? Or something like that. Unless Babs intends to give Cleary the 3rd line and have Draper center the 4th, we still end up one winger short. What are our options in GR and who can we pick up cheap for a 3rd / 4th line role???
-
Blow me. I know this, but Helm was a replacement for an injured player. He was not on the team, he wasn't playing over Kopecky, he was a replacement. Yes, he had a GREAT playoffs and one day may be a great player, but he (right now) is a one dimensional player (speed). There is a lot to centering a line, he is the face and, generally, the playmaker of the line. I could be wrong and end up looking like a fool, but he hasn't shown that he is ready.
-
U. In dreamland. - Leino- rookie. They don't go on the second or third lines on a Red Wings team. Watch any game after 1997. - Helm- yes, can center the third line, but will not over Draper. He could play wing on the 3d line, but not center it. - Sammy is useless wthout a playmaker giving him the puck. Who does that on the 3rd line. Bab's has him on the point during the PP and you think he will move him down for Cleary... - Yes, Huds is not gone...yet. I am guessing he ain't coming back, so I picked either Sammy or Rex to stay. Babs likes Sammy. - Draper could center the 4th line, assuming we sign someone else to either center the 3rd line or play winger on the 4th. Yes. And filling in for injury in the playoffs is different than having your own line all season.
