As great as a 1-0 game is, I would rather see more 8-6 games. As far as the OP, I think that goalie equipment is a concern since it is one of the things being taken advantage of that is affecting the game. But blown calls, and cheap shots should also be addressed. Also, the quote about "best defenseman to ever play" sounds good to me. Lappy should have been given a game and fine for a head shot.

Simplicity in the name is the key. No one wants a corporate name. Keep t simple. The Detroit Center, Red Wings Arena ala Yankee Stadium, or Steve Yzerman Arena

Is that a challenge? I throw my share of swears, but always with passion or emphasis to make a point. My fingers don't have the same filter as my mouth and it shows when the Wings get screwed with a bad call or we get scored on in a big "please don't let them score" moment.

Bah-dum-CHING!!!

Has anyone seen my violin? Oh, here it is. :violin:

Holyfield is a good fighter, should the Wings sign him? There's more to hockey than fighting. Sportsmanship is big in the NHL, and intent to injure and fighting the other guy before he knows he's in a fight are qualities I don't want in my game.

He is trying to hurt every player he hits. I was convinced of it last season and the evidence keeps piling up. He's a disgrace and shouldn't even be in the AHL. Stay classy Nashville.

The Detroit Red Wings are the only pure franchise left in professional sports. Not sold out with corporate labels, not changed jerseys/team colors to attract fans (pretty much every NBA team and some NHL teams), not in the business of buying Cups (Yankees), and players are not more important to the team in the media than the team itself (NFL, NBA, MLB).

Kronner looks sharp. Raffy is doing good too so far.

Meech.

Wings 3 (Dats, Kronner, Homer) Blues 1 (who cares, the ref will probably kick it in)

The NHL needs to pull a Starbucks and close down for 3 hours and retrain the refs on the rules of the game and how to enforce them. The first chapters should read: Chapter 1: Watching the Puck and its Location Chapter 2: The Whistle and You, How to Know When a Play Should Be Stopped Chapter 3: Roughing. From Punches to Punches Chapter 4: Interference; How NOT to F*ck Up a Game Chapter 5: Leaving Your Feet is a Penalty (Tootoo Rule A) Chapter 6: Charging is a Penalty (Tootoo Rule B) And so on.

HOLY SH*T! I scored above 50%!!!

That pretty much sums it up.

All I want is a healthy, non-slumping Wings team in the first round... and then a Cup.

Meech > Lebda Ericsson > Lebda Sorry, but it's true. Meech shoots and knows how. E can hit, has a hard shot and uses it. All Lebda has is speed. HE doesn't hit, is easily pushed off the puck, has no shot, and has defensive lapses in the offensive zone that leads to giveaways. Lidstrom-Raffy Kronner-Stu Lilja/Cheli-Ericsson/Meech

The "red flag" throwing rule is looking better and better to me. Questionable call, throw the flag, if play stands 2 min Delay penalty. Issue solved.
-
ESPN would think it was due to racial inequality and not report on it.
-
All goals should be reviewable, regardless of what the ref calls on the play. Period.

Wings 3 (Dats, Homer, Stuart-WELCOME!) Sharks 1 (who cares)

I was pointing put that even though this year's team may be better than last year's team, where does that get us? This year's Stars are better than last year's, this year's Avs are better than last year's. It is 2008, 2007's team is irrelevant. We need to beat the better versions of last year's teams to win a Cup. I have no hesitance, and the right to be negative is earned through years of allegiance. I am a Red Wings fan and I expect excellence in all forms, including the management of the team. Anything less is subject to criticism. Come down off your high horse and stop preaching the ways of being a "true fan" or just STFU and let people discuss the topic.

I get it. But you do realize that there will be 15 other teams that this year's Wings will need to be better than? Doesn't matter what you have, but what you do with it.
