I don't think it's entirely Sammy's fault. But it was not a deflected shot and it wasn't a fluttering puck and it was shot from 15-20' away and it hit him in the face. Cleary is 6'1". That's a high shot. I can see why some are mad.

OW! My reasoning button was just pressed hard. I would like him back. Solves the 2nd line center issue AND the 2nd PP unit debacle. Sammy off the point and in close to the goalie like he should be. When Cleary gets back (?) the 2nd PP unit would look like this w/ rotations. Sammy/Rex - Flip/Cleary - Stein Kronner - Feds

I don't know. There was booing his first game back after the Carolina hold-out. And some booing after that during the traditional home opener intros. I think there would be booing, not from REAL Wings fans, but from the casual fan. And, officially, I would welcome him back with open arms and a happy tear. Fedorov and Foote.... please. He was my favorite player, but he gets booed every time he touches the puck here. I just can't see him coming back.

I really don't think the Wings will give their 1st round pick to anyone. They have traded them away for so many years and I think those practices are over in the "new" NHL where teams are more competitive and talent is more important. They need a top 30 player to bring in every season. Any other pick is fair game IMO.
