As much as I would like him. He is a BIG part of the Pens org. and he is FROM Pittsburgh. 0-1% chance he leaves when the Pens are on the upswing.
-
We don't. NJ might.
-
Kindl and Ericsson are untouchables according to management. I know Hossa will cost a lot. And Flip is also someone I would be willing to part with to get Hossa, who is better than both of them. But not BOTH Flip and Hudler.
-
Oz signed an extension. Hasek will retire VERY soon so why would we trade away out future undisputed #1? Lebda is more likely to remain a Wing than the rest of the list, but he is not an untouchable.
-
Sundin and Blake are rentals. They would return to their respective teams after the potential Cup run with a contender. Hossa, on the other hand, is an ELITE player that ATL would drop so they can rebuild or clear cap space for big deals in the summer. Yes, the Wings aren't in parenthesis. The second list of players are just big names not mentioned with the Wings, with Lang being a fun addition to that list.

Gratton: absolutely, would shut a LOT of people up around here. Hunter is a good choice. Ruutu is a bit of a douchebag. Hossa, IMO, is a great asset to have. Rental or not, the guy is a threat whenever he is on the ice. I would gladly trade a Hudler and a Sammy and a pick/prospect to get him here and possibly sign him to a 2-3 year deal.

Blake Article, "Could be good fit for Wings"

I know. But since they have been linked to both players it needed to be said. They cant sign both, and I think Blake would want to knock the Ducks out of the playoffs, not help them succeed (did he ever say that?). The Flyers or Nucks will sign Forsberg. Anaheim is more in the running for a rental like Sundin. -
Who do you want that could be had? Remembering that a Sundin or a Blake will cost a player and prospects. I like the idea of a Lapointe on the Wings. He can fight, he does hit, he is gritty, and he can be a top six forward in the right system. I want a player that can do all of those things for the eventual play-off series with ANA. As for a Dman, a few names I would like us to be linked to would be Jovo and enforcers in the East.

Apparently one of those ghosts bumps into goalies when Homer is within 5 feet of them.
-
From TSN, NOT ME: - According to the Detroit Free Press, the Red Wings might consider moving Dan Cleary if they can't get him signed to a contract extension, and if the Wings could get a top-six forward in return. However, it's hard to figure out why a team would surrender a quality forward for a player heading towards unrestricted free agency, unless a contract extension gets worked out with Cleary.

I know, but maybe he wants a Cup more than a family reunion. I hate that the Ducks have their webbed feet in everything we do. Sundin, Forsberg, Blake, and now Hossa. I hate being in the same sentence as them. Well, at least we have Lapointe to argue about now.

IF they sign Blake and Forsberg they will be the 01-02 Wings, except instead of scoring it's physicality. -
WTF?!?! Explain yourself.

I think we have enough depth at forward with Downey and Ellis to where we could trade away ONE dressed player. I REALLY hope Anaheim doesn't sign Blake, it's just too much for them to have. That being said, if they DO get him we really need, yes NEED, to sign a physical defenceman and hopefully a big, driving forward. I don't care what anyone says, Schneider, Bertuzzi, Weight, and Blake make the Ducks better than last year's team. But we are playing a much better game than we were last year. Dats and Z are monsters when Babs makes the correct decision in putting them on the same line, unlike the game vs. LA. -
I've thought about this and there is nothing that can be done. Whether a video review or a flag thrown by the coach, the refs would throw a fit. The refs would call more penalties in close situations and would rely on coaches to call for a review.

Source Says Up 3 Mil, Good for Wings too

Notice the Hasek-like stop with no penalty or redo called.

I think the Wings defenseman they sign should be able to: A. Shoot the puck on the 2nd PP unit and B. Clear the crease -
In no particular order. Ovechkin Shanahan Fedorov Modano Sakic
-
He has a brain abnormality. I'm sure of it.
-
I never implied we could get him. But, if we were to go after him, the price would be high and probably worth it.

While all of the regular season success is great, in the long run no one will remember what happened this SEASON. The POST-SEASON is what we will remember. Without a Cup, who cares about if we get 62 wins. Being the #1 seed means NOTHING, and we know this better than anyone in sports. I want a player that will put us over the top. Jokinen MAY be that player. Jokinen is a forward who can drive the net through traffic. We NEEDED that against Anaheim and will NEED it again this year. Right now, we are small and Anaheim is big. We need to get bigger up front. Hudler and Flip, while great playmakers and have good offensive instincts, are NOT EVEN CLOSE to Jokinen. With a big player like Jokinen and a cannon (Blake) at the point on the 2nd PP unit, Wings > Ducks even with Selanne, Niedermayer, and Forsberg.

These were mine: Nice to be in the majority. Although I thought Joe "Pick on players smaller than me who don't fight and try to injure people by slashing their legs" Thornton would have more votes.
