Do the Ducks have the cap space for a 2-3 year 5mil contract?
-
I'm sorry. But I refuse to believe that players in goal slumps (Iginla) are more "clutch" than players who score consistently (Z) simply because they have more GWGs. And the 5th goal is a 5-0 win IS important. By the logic you are using, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are also not important. In hockey anything is possible. Ask the Rangers and Habs. When you say "no team can score 5 goals in 5 minutes" you leave yourself open to humility.

Florida would want Franzen and Flip, for starters.
-
That is a truly horrible stat. It makes no sense. No goals are "padded" goals. Every goal counts. Same goes with assists.
-
I don't completely understand your post. In attempting to answer it, I will state what I think you want me to state. I do NOT dislike Cleary. He is a good player that the Wings should have on the roster. I think that 4 mil is too much for him. I think, given his overall track record, he is deserving of a 3-4 year deal and that deal's amount should be a solid number with performance boosters on the back end of it. He is NOT an elite player (Dats, Z, Lids) and should not make their kind of money. He should also not make Homer money, as some others have stated. But since he has the potential for 30 goal seasons, give him money for 20+ goal seasons or 10+ point playoff runs.
-
Cleary is a player that performance incentives are meant for. $2.5 mil base with up to 3.5 in incentives. Goals, points, play-off performance, etc.
-
Almost didn't make it. Wings 3 (Homer, Z, Cleary) Wild 2 (who cares)
-
1. Chris Neil 2. Antropov & Gill 3. Forsberg 4. Foote / Blake 5. Gratton (TB) / Sutton (NYI)
-
Jesus, here we go again. I don't think I have the energy for another one of these threads.
-
If we are looking for only size and toughness, we need to either rape Toronto and take Gill and Antropov, or deal with the Lightning for Gratton.
-
Barring a defensive collapse of Toronto-like proportion, Oz and Dom should win it in a walk.
-
Jokinen is the kind of trade that would not surprise me at all, but to think we would only have to give up 1 dressed player is madness. Hossa definitely won't happen. Sundin is possible, but probably won't happen. I see him in Toronto in March. But... Swedes apparently like playing with other Swedes. So Sundin and Forsberg are possibilities. Sundin more so. I think Foppa will be in either Philly or Denver before Detroit. Anaheim and Vancouver will also be options.

Fedorov = Pass. I was the BIGGEST fan of Fedorov when he was on the Wings and was a fan until after his first game against the Wings. But, he is injury prone and brings ZERO physicality. Goal scoring isn't what we need, it's a big body that can drive the net. Forsberg is more of an answer than Fedorov, but I honestly give the Wings a 25% chance of getting Forsberg over the Flyers, Avs, and even Nucks and Ducks. My pick is either Sundin or Jokinen or no forward at all. Blake is a different story. This injury means NOTHING on his playing ability. He is a big body with a physical presence and a cannon at the point (which we NEED since Sammy is garbage on the point). He is the only player I expect the Wings to get and if we don't I will be extremely hard on Holland unless he makes up with a "blockbuster" that puts us WAY ahead of the Ducks and Sens into the play-offs.
-
The refs could make 50 calls a night like the one they made on Sammy. The Lids hooking penalty and the Homer interference penalty were GARBAGE. "2 mins for Hockey."
-
1. The entire Anaheim Ducks team (Pronger, Selanne, Niedermayer, Getzlaf, Perry, JSG to name my MOST hated) 2. Jordin Tootoo 3. Joe Thornton 4. Scott Hartnell 5. Adam Foote* * could change with a change of jersey
-
Who would you rather have? I think it's pretty much down to Blake and Foote for guys with play-off experience, size, and dependability. Unless the Wings are going to go after a 7th dman.
-
I honestly don't think Z will reach 50. I wish he would, but 20 in 29 is a tough nut to crack on the Wings. Especially at the END of the season. But it is possible, throw in a couple 2 goal games and maybe a Trick or 2 and he just may do it.

Jeez, Boston is more banged up than the Avs. Drake is back, so I wonder who will sit. RWC says that Babs is waiting to see who BOS dresses so he can decide who sits. If Drake and Downey play, either Maltby or Kopper will sit. Wings 4 (Z, Raffy, Stein, Rex) Bruins 2 (who cares)

I would add a defensive award. It would be for "Best Offensive Defenseman" call it the Bobby Orr Award. It would clear up a lot of controversy for fans who think Niedermayer is a better D-man than Lids. The Norris would be best defensive defenseman. I would also have awards voted by the players for "Best Passer", "Best Stickhandler", and "Best Penalty Killer"

The "Sundin Trade" that may happen in the near future has some potential. Especially if he goes back to TO after the post. Some GM throws 2 players, a prospect, and a couple picks to the Leafs because he thinks Mats will put his team over the top and 3 years later he would do anyting to take it back because he gave up a Zetterberg, Lidstrom, or Roy in the draft; and to top it off Sundin is back in Toronto.

I would like more fast paced music. Metallica, AC/DC, Kid Rock. You know, "drive-your-car-fast" music. The Colorado DJ is very good, he knows what the people like.
-
I'm all for it if he can be had for less than $4mil with incentives.
-
HEY NOW!!! That kind of fact-based logic is dangerous around here.
