How long have you been watching him? Every time, and I mean EVERY TIME, he plays the Wings there is a questionable play involving: a. an elbow, b. more than 5 strides, c. leaving the ice, or d. punching before the opponent's gloves are off or they realize they are even in a fight. He's a Level 10 Douchebag and he doesn't belong in the league. And I KNOW I am not alone on this issue and I am positive my Red Wings homerism isn't clouding my judgment.

I agree. I hope we go after a Blake or a Foote this year, instead of a Cory Cross. I want to see a player that can impact a game and more pointedly an opponent's strategy.

No. Whoever they play in the first round will not be a pushover as they were last season. And whoever they play in the 2nd round will be stronger than the Wild of last year. Then they have the deeper Wings to deal with, if they both make it to the WCF. Yeah, I'm a homer when it comes to who I think the best team is and I admit it. But just because I am a homer doesn't mean I'm wrong on this issue. But, we'll just have to wait.

Well, we definitely need someone now. Not because the Ducks are better than us (they're not) but because we need to do something to solidify our ranks. Ballerina #2 makes them a little deeper at forward. We should return the favor on forward and defense. Blake/Foote and Forsberg/Fedorov/Sudin/some power forward not afraid to drop the gloves.

I agree with this post for the most part. The teams players are on definitley affects their play and their value in the league. Would Iginla win the scoring title in Detroit? Probably not, but since he is the only ELITE player on the Flames, he is in all of the scoring situations and he is the go-to guy. The Wings always have 2 or 3, that is why they don't win scoring titles, but always seem to be in the top 5 teams in total goals scored. As for the playoffs and success and skill, I call it the Kirk Maltby Theory. Maltby usually does very little on he offensive front during the regular season. Outside of PK time, he is usually invisible on the scoresheet. However, in the post he becomes a forechecking machine, a pain in the oppositions ass, and typically chips in a couple of goals during a series. In conclusion, just because Foote, Fedorov, and Blake are on s***ty teams, doesn't mean they are s***ty.

Two depth signings and Detroit takes a series in 6. We lose Schneider and Kronwall, Bertuzzi is 50%, Hank 80%, and we have dead weight on the 2nd line. Injuries lost that series, not Lilja. But since I know injuries are part of the game, depth is the cure. Now, we are grittier (Drake, Downey) deeper in the forward position (Downey, Ellis, Hartigan) and have young defensive players that can fill in (Q, Kindl if necessary, Meech) plus the hottest goalie tandem. All we need is a top 6 dman who can play the point and a strong center that can skate through traffic and we're stronger than the 96 Wings IMHO. Hopefully whoever we pick up gets Sammy off the point on the PP. He can stay on the PP, but down at the circles. And, no offense, but if Giggy goes down the Ducks don't make the post. Hope they have a back-up plan. Same goes with Fronger and Niederweiner aka Nevermakeadecisioner. Depth-wise, they are WAY weaker than us.

I'll watch it. The old format was, well, old. The only part I have a problem with is fastest skater. There are no previous records to compare against in the new format. Not Gartners or Fedorovs to compare to. I like the new shoot-out with scoring, since the original is still there with SO rules, there is room for a new glitzy version to put the highlights on ESPN.
