AH! But there is a problem with that. Pronger was EXPECTED to win that fight and did not. There is a bit of a golf-like handicap when it comes to judging hockey fights. Say it were 1990 and Probert squared off with Modano. Were Probert in Pronger's place and Modano in Cleary's, Dallas/Minne fans would still be talking about the fight today. Pronger should have won, and since he didn't ( I view it as a draw) there is some feeling of victory for Cleary.

I agree. I view the takedown as a tie breaker. If 2 guys swing and connect and you can't tell who won the fight, then who ever ends up on top wins. But if you get pummeled and then end up on top, you don't really win. IMO, no one won that fight. Cleary was cut and turtled, but he was already on the ice. Why risk the cut being torn WIDE open when the fight is over and the ref is already upon you?

As far as I'm concerned, Downey has the ONLY 100% "cleanly" won fight in the history of the NHL. EDIT: I've never used the video embedder, so here's my first go at it.

I'm the same way. Im like 99% sure none of them will leave, but the mere mention of their names as a rumor pisses me off. For some reason everyone in Canada with a public voice and especially Leafs fans think that Toronto is the PREMIERE hockey club in the world. To me, a premiere hockey club has a solid foundation with scouting, minor league success and depth, and the stability to be a consistent contender and make the play-offs more times than not. Now I know hockey was created in Canada and the HOF is there and the NHL HQ, but other than that and being the largest city in Canada... what is the appeal? EDIT: clarity and addition to rant

I mean, every time a player with a dark jersey falls there is a penalty on the Wings. DOUBLE if they are a name or have had a commercial. So I expect at least 9 PP chances for the Ducks and at least one called back goal that Homer scored. Calls for Fronger, Getslapped, Neithermatter, and Fairy will definitely come when Pavel tries to lift their stick or Lidstrom knocks the puck off of it. And I'm sure Cleary will be called for "hustling.") Wow, that opponent guess score went a little longer than usual.

Does anyone else feel like our D has no "true" cannons to fire the puck. I know Lids has a great shot, but I don't see someone who gives players fear when they wind up. Lebda, Kronwall, Rafalski, Chelios, and Lilja are not guys that I consider have a hard shot. We've lost 2 (Fisch and Schneider) and we need one for the second PP unit. Another thing Blake could help us with IMO.

Forsberg was never a TRULY hated guy on the Avs. We hated playing against him because when he was on he could control the game and hand us our asses. Plus, he was ALWAYS scoring OT goals. He's nowhere in Foote, Roy, or Lemieux territory as players on the Avs I wished would get a puck in the face. But there were times when I wished he would fall awkwardly into the boards, mostly when the game was tied or before an elimination game. I'm all for it... at the right price. Anything over $3.5 and I'll pass. Unless he gets an OK from a doc and there are LOTS of incentives based on performance, then 4.5 is OK.
