Yes, but aside from discussing injuries from OTHER games and predicting line combos (which is still a form of pre-game guessing) what really is there to talk about before the puck drops? We could say things like "Rex really needs to step it up.", but that in itself is a meaningless and sometimes obvious statement. The point was to get Downey some minutes and limit the destruction caused by Kopecky and Ellis. Like I said, it is a 1 line team with Stein and Sammy out, and it should be until they get back. I suppose Draper and Cleary could be switched though.

I agree. With Sammy and Stein out, the first line is the sole source of offense right now. It would be insane to break up our ONLY weapon. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Wait until the ZDH line falters then split them up, or whenever they decide to bring up Grigs. He has a slim chance to actually be a spark for the 2nd or 3rd lines. My question is what to do with the Kopecky/Downey situation. Kopecky is a ghost out there (and Ellis for that matter) while Downey rides the pine. Here is my solution. Technically, the Ducks are one of the worse teams in the league. Check the standings (before the Wings game of course). Ozzie beat the Kings, who beat the Ducks. And before the game last night the Kings offense wwas much more potent than the Ducks. And the same goes for the Flames. So... My opinion, if Hasek give one away against the Sharks like he did with the Ducks, put Ozzie in and ride him until he fails like Hasek did.

Piss-poor game by the Wings on all fronts. Dom was HORRIBLE. Bryzgalov was NOT phenomenal, but he was better than average; and that is all it took. Offense: not horrible, but not up to Red Wings standards. I don't care if they played last night or if they have "off-nights". Bad passing, bad shot selection. I would have actually liked to see Sammy in there tonight. Defense: ugh... Lidstrom can't do it alone. He tried tonight. Best player on the ice for the Wings. Special teams: Refs only get half the blame for the loss. Wings can't score on the PP and can't stop the Quacks from getting a shorty. Bound to lose. Sharks are going to be a HUGE test.
