3rd one. Smith is a train wreck. Helm may never play at top level again. Mrazek hurts, but it's acceptable with a young Howie and McCollum still in development. Nyquist really hurts since he is Datsyuk's replacement. Dekeyser is our defensive future with Smith showing his true form last season so it hurts the most, but we can survive on trades and Kindl for a few seasons. Can't go Option 1 cause we can't lose Kronwall AND Nyquist. Can't go Option 2 because we lose too much with 3 prospects going. Dats in a Pens jersey also makes me throw up in my mouth.

I was hoping for a smaller venue. The most intimidating and loudest arenas are always smaller. Plus, as someone already stated, it will look fuller. Hopefully they will reset season ticket holders so more people will get a chance. Or do a raffle so real fans and not corporations will buy the lower bowl tickets. I'm pretty sure that current season ticket holders think what I just said isn't fair, but not having a chance at all isn't fair either. As for the name, Olympia has the naming rights so if they do sell it they will retain control of who buys it. So I don't think it's going to be Booking.com Arena. If anything maybe Amway Arena or keep it in the family and go Little Caesar's Coliseum, or maybe even go old school-ish and call it the Olympia Center. Would be cool to see a Detroit based company buy the name though.

On the ice he is a top 5 forward in the world. On a stats sheet? Not really. Malkin, Crosby, both Sedins, St. Louis, Stamkos, even Iginla and Nash will routinely have more goals and most of them will have more points. Steals and great passes look awesome when they happen, but goals and assists win games. He is worth 7 mil for a couple years... maybe. If he looks like he did against CHI then he is worth less than 6. Don't get me wrong, Dats is my favorite player and I want him to be a Wing and would hate for him to leave, but, we need to have a sensible budget with a team that is going to get smaller via FA losses and wants to make a run of it next season. That means being able to make trades in February. And having money to lure the big trades that work out in the offseason (like we couldn't do with Hossa) and promoting/keeping young talent that hit UFA status is worth more than keeping one player (EDIT:) for more money than is reasonable.

If he does Holland is an idiot and Datsyuk's agent should run for office. He is 34 years old and coming off an "off" year for him stats wise (before you say it was a short season, I know, post-season wasn't what I expected from him. He was almost invisible against CHI). Why would he get a raise? If anything his salary goes down. I see him getting between 6-6.5 mil per season for a two season deal. Anything more will be front loaded at like 7 and end up at 4 or so when he is around 38-39 like most other long term contracts. Malkin is young and that's why he gets so much. Pavel is old by NHL superstar standards and should get less than he gets now.

I vote Boston because: 1. I hate Chicago and their "fans" who think their team is a legit dynasty even though most of them can't name who was captain before Toews. 2. I hate Pittsburgh, their fans, Crosby, Malkin, Iginla, and the homerism of NBC. 3. I don't want another team to win back-to-back Cups unless it's the Wings. And the city of Boston could use some good feelings.

Why would Bickell or Stalberg sign with the Wings? Right now they are on the better team that will most likely offer them more money (and likely to take a loyalty discount if they do win the Cup) than the Wings would. We all know how Holland plays the UFA game, anyone who was not on the Wings the day before free agency starts will get a smaller offer from the Wings than any other team. He will look to sign our UFAs first (like Flip and Cleary for some reason) and then go after the bigger fish if he has money left over, but mostly for depth guys (Tootoo, Cola, Sammy, etc). The only time he goes all in is with hired guns/rentals like Hossa and Jagr who have names that all hockey fans are aware of. He will not sign 3rd and 4th liners because it seems like our 3rd and 4th lines are set if and when Helm comes back. I see Bert and Sammy hopefully saying goodbye to make room for the younger guys and HOPEFULLY Holland fixing what killed us against Chicago, bigger and more experienced defensemen to let some others fix their game in GR and stop turning the puck over, and being beaten one on one while standing still at the blueline, or making blind passes up the boards to no one, or pinching down under the goal line during a line change, etc.

Smith is like a Ferrari without an engine. Most people will see Kenny post it on eBay and be like "Well, there must be something wrong with it." I will be hoping for that one GM that is like "F*ck! That's a Ferrari. Here's a bunch of money!" (aka prospects and a 2nd liner to replace Cleary).

I think Eaves should be in. Tootoo (if put in) would most likely IMO take Andersson's (sp?) spot. He has seemed lost a few times out there. But I would rather see Andersson than Sammy (but a right handed shot that can play the point on the PP isn't going to be taken out). So, in theory, in order to play Eaves, Tootoo, Bert, and Sammy it would look something like: Hank-Pavel-Sammy Franzen-Flip-Brunner Nyquist-Eaves-Bert Tootoo-Emmerton-Cleary Not great, I put Cleary on the bottom line because he hasn't been very effective IMO. Too many giveaways and bad decisions along the boards. Brunner on the second line as a reward. Bert up from the bottom line because he was GREAT last night. Eaves is listed as a center in the past. Sammy stays on the first line but could easily be swapped with Brunner (both righties).

Tatar > Cleary Kindl > Smith

This isn't a charity. It's a business. And if they can sell a guy and get a return on him instead of just giving him away to the KHL or FA then they will.

Perry. This entire article makes sense. Datsyuk's career is dead because of Babcock and the nobodies he has him playing with. Holland is insisting that the players we have WHO ARE NOT PLAYING are the answers to our problems. Meanwhile, Datsyuk and Z are being beaten up and worked harder than they should. I wouldn't blame him for leaving especially when he knows he will be paid at least twice as much in his home country.
