I would feel better with our 2nd line of the PP with Fedorov on it. Right now we can only really throw the DZH line with Lids and Raffy out there to cause chaos for the other team. With Fedorov on the point of the second line we could be a lot better and he would partially fill the GUN gap that Schneider left.

It said half the group, so 10 neo-Nazis. Plus, they're neo-Nazis, not real Nazis. Neo-Nazis are *******. A gust of wind could kick 10 neo-Nazis' asses.

Wings to invite former Whaler Vernarsky to camp

TSN Bio Local guy. Good size. No scouting report. -
That's what I said. BTW, GREAT AVATAR!!! LOL

I think you can since it is a quote. But, don't go saying curse words willy-nilly. Or just replace one letter of each word with an *.

We should sign Claude Lemieux. If we are going for douchebags, we should aim for the stars.

The Wings are definitely the biggest NATIONAL Detroit team. Nationally it goes: Wings Tigers Pistons Lions

Excellent news. Lang v2.0 is now unavailable.

The Wings definitely have had the most success of the teams. But Detroit is Tiger-town first, Hockeytown second. Either way, good news for Illitch.

No, I don't need to fall back on stats. But Kopecky came back from an injury and was not at 100% during the playoffs. Brad May was at 100% and had stats comparable to Kopecky. No one was afraid of the Ducks fighting prowess in the playoffs, only their blueline and goaltending. I would rather have Kopecky than Brad May. At least with Kopecky there is a chance of there being talent where as to May there is no chance. But I expect you to argue this point as well and I'm sure that someone who wants Chris Simon on the Wings will have strong feelings as to why toughness and cheapshots to players (see any one Simon or May's highlight reels) have a place on a puck-possession based team over players who have offensive upsdes.

Games May played vs. games Kopper played. GP G A P +/- PIM 24 0 4 4 -1 21 26 1 0 1 -2 22 That's a WHOLE lot more.

I'll sum all of this up: Can you win a game with a fight? I would love a fighter, but not at the expense of having a Hudler or a Flip out of a roster spot. If we could get a PRODUCING fighter, then I am all for it. But a Laraque, Boogaard, Ivanans, Worrell... eh, no thanks.

Drake left the game and was suspended. Williams was borderline legal seeing as he was the player in control of the puck. It was only a questionable hit because it was shoulder to head. WHICH IS STILL LEAGAL IN THE NHL. A better example to bring up would have been the Franzen hit where he didn't have the puck. Homer came back and we still lost. What would fighting Pronger have done? He might have even NOT been suspended if the Wings had retaliated. They may have even lost a player for instigating. So, still think having a fighter would have won the series? And for the record, I would like a Bob Probert on the team, but not at the cost of just having a guy to send out there for fights. Probert could play if any of you remember. He even made the all-star team once. The ability to play well and fight seems to be a rare gift, or the Wings would have an enforcer. I agree.

Do we need one? No. Would I like to see one? Yes. I think everyone feels the same way. We love seeing fights. But to say that no one stands up for anyone is ignorant. If there is a cheap shot and it is not dealt with by the refs, the players handle it. The Wings don't take the laws into their own hands, they win by playing the game as pure as it can be played, not by gooning it up as much as the other team does.

No way Q plays over Lilja after the play-off performance Lilly gave.

Red and huge. 400x100

And the signature. 450x180 The axe is coming.

I haven't heard much from the Wings side of the FA market lately. Has anyone heard anything about the Markov talks or who the Wings may sign to replace him? Also, the top-six forward that Holland still wants to sign; has anyone heard any names that have come up in talks or people who have expressed interest in the Wings? I'm dying for news.

The Penguins are the team to watch. Just ask Bettman. Sidney Crosby is the only thing keeping the NHL afloat in the media.

This guy is stil avaliable. If we can't get Markov or Sopel, he is my #1 choice. Hits big and fights. Plus, he is 6'6". This guy would shut a lot of negative-Nancy's mouths about size and grit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRMfBUTaoM4&NR=1

Phoenix is a good bet. I can't really think of a worse team. But just to have a different option in this thread... Carolina.

I have only heard 2 negative things about Rafalski: 1. He is small and is FAR from a physical defenseman. And when we lost Schneider (and maybe Markov) we did lose physicality on the blueline. 2. His point shots are useless. So on the PP he would be passing, not scoring. We did lose a lot of potential PP scoring when Schneider left. #2 remains to be seen as a flaw. He may lead the league in PP assists next season. I will miss Schneider's cannon on the PP. That is the ONLY real advantage that Souray has over Raffy. Physical play is fine as long as you are responsible, which Souray is not.

Good job accentuating the past tense there. I think Lilja will have a great season this year as our 5th d-man.
-
He wanted to be the go-to guy. With Yzerman on his team, Fedorov would never be that guy. With Kariya gone from the Ducks, he had his shot. Then he became the big fish in the small pond in Columbus.

No Cups without either of them. 5 different players could have won the Conn Smythe in 98. Yzerman 24 pts (6G,18A), Fedorov 20 pts (10G,10A). Either could have won it and to say one was more important is ludacris. In talent alone in the 90s NOT the 80s... Fedorov > Yzerman
