I doubt a hockey player in the modern era would say something like that. Especially with his friend Lidstrom on the team.
-
HERE HERE!!!! Now all we need is Fedorov to be bought out and to pick him up for around $3mil and the Cup is in the bag
-
Wings 3 (Dats, Z, Drake) Ducks 1 (Schneider)
-
We play the Lightning at home. Look at March and April. If there is a tight race in the Central it will be decided in those 2 months.
-
Lebda. But we also have Brad Ference now and he is bigger than Quincey and Lebda. So it should be ... Lebda or Ference. Edit: Brad Ference, not Andrew.
-
Drake doesn't fight. Ville doesn't fight. Maltby doesn't fight. Draper doesn't fight. Franzen doesn't fight. Chelios doesn't fight. Datsyuk doesn't fight. Lidstrom doesn't fight. Hasek doesn't fight. Cleary doesn't fight. We get it. None of the Wings that are productive fight. Drake should fit right in to the WINNING formula of players who are physical without fighting.
-
Hudler will be playing too. Here are my lines Hudler-Dats-Homer Flip-Z-Sammy Cleary-Draper-Kopper Drake-Franzen-Maltby That covers our forwards except for Hussey and Grigorenko. And if Grigs does play, Kopper will be sitting.
-
Maybe 14. Half of 28.
-
Maltby and Draper are the best PK tandem in the NHL. Maltby is half of it. He still has uses. Probert wasn't here to score, kill penalties, or run the PP; yet he had a purpose. We need defensive forwards too.
-
Love this signing. Although I have bashed Drake in the past, it was always because of his hitting of Wings. So, some grit has been added. Now we need a few more goals to be added, and hopefully those will come fom the kids (Franzen, Flip, Rex, and maybe Kopper).

LOL! Priceless... Kovalev is one of the few players that is all-offense. He has no defensive upside. That being said, he could floursh on the Wings PP and would be an EXCELLENT person to pair with Pavel. He sets 'em up, Kovalev knocks 'em down. Forsberg, while his past makes me dry heave, is the prototypical powerforward. If he was healthy and willing, I would throw $4million at him in a second.

Agreed. We lost a B+ defenseman and signed an A- defenseman. We lost our ENTIRE 2nd line and signed... nobody. We may lose Markov and would have yet another hole to fill. Aside from re-signing Huddles (which probably wouldn't have happened if we got Bert back for a good price; and since we lost him it became necessary) and signing some future lifelong Griffin players, we ain't did nothin'. Still have time before training camp though...

We were the best team in the play-offs last year, we were just incomplete without Schneider, Kronwall, Lebda, and Bertuzzi all being injured. eva explained what most seem to have forgotten. We replaced our biggest loss with a better player and cut the fat aka Lang, Calder, and a risky Bertuzzi. Markov will probably leave, and I see him as a bigger loss than Lang, Calder, and Bertuzzi. There will be a hole on defense if we don't re-sign Markov that will have to be filled with a Kindl, Meech, or Quincey.

NIGHTMARE!!! THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!!! FORGET ABOUT THE CUP THIS YEAR!!! ... Thank you, thank you. That was my impression of a fan who doesn't realize that Brad Winchester is a blind squirrel.
-
We still have not lost Markov. He hasn't been signed by anyone. He may end up with the Wings for a lower price because he just wants to be signed.
-
This is definitely a possibility. He got him down under $1M and can deal him in a package with a pick and get a mid-range depth forward. However, he would still have a hole on the 4th line to fill, even if Grigs comes up. I don't think Hussey is ready. So, Holland and Babcock would have to deal with a VERY young line-up until the trade deadline; unless they move Hudler for another forward AND sign a UFA before the season begins.
-
Kopecky was rusty after a huge injury. Give him a break before we trade him. Here are my revised 2k7 lines Homer-Datsyuk-Hudler Flip-Zetterberg-Samuelsson Kopecky-Draper-Cleary Maltby-Franzen-Grigorenko/Hussey Lidstrom-Chelios Rafalski-Markov (I know)/Lebda Lilja-Kronwall Hasek/Ozzie We need another d-man and a "gritty" forward.
-
I thought the Devils signed Souray. Shanny (not for 4M), Sopel, O'Neil, and maybe Yashin. But other choices are not on that list.
-
Remember, not only FAs are in play here. Trades are bound to happen, and Detroit is no different. Don't be surprised if Lilja, Hudler (he was signed and still may be trade bait) and even Kronwall are being shopped for wingers. Kenny and Babs have confidence in the youth program, so trading a depth Dman or a depth forward may not be out of the question to a team with less than stellar play-off hopes to get one of their tops guys.
-
You speak the truth. ESPN pretty much called Burke a genius. Yet, Bertuzzi's name is only famous for his past play pre-injury and Schneider is only famous because he was on the Wings. Holland knows what he is doing, I just wish he would do SOMETHING along the lines of signing a winger, be it Asham, O'Neil, or Murray; just something we can all talk about and stop making "What's Going On?" threads.
-
O'Neil, Murray, Camalleri(sp?), Asham. In that order.
-
Arrrrgh ye' drunk on rum, o' ye' jus' pullin' me peg?
-
He's a great back-up for Dom. And if Dom were to go down (God forbid) for a lengthy amount of time, Ozzie could handle all the games he missed and the team and fans would be confident in his abilities. Plus, fans love him and so do his teammates. That is why he is a Red Wing.
-
Vish, Gelinas, and Asham are the only guys I really would like to come here from that list.
-
I'll pass on Fedoruk. If we're going to get a fighter, let's get one who wins occasionally and doesnt make it on ESPN with a shattered face.
