The Wings have an enforcer, Brad Norton. He doesn't play. You know why? Because to play on the Wings you need more than your fists and skates. Bert is the closest thing we may get to an enforcer this year. He is not an enforcer. To play on the team you need to be a playmaker, responsible, and have some finesse with the puck. No one mentioned in the UFA rumors for the Wings thus far have had all the qualities to make the Wings and is a bonefied enforcer. So unless Holland makes some out-of-nowhere nove to land a Gratton or a Neil, than no enforcer this season until the trade dealdine anyway.

Yeah, but he is 6'4", fights, plays nasty, and has a shot equal to Schenider's. They are pretty much the same player except one is bigger and meaner. With a better supporting cast Souray may step up like Schneider did when he first came here when we were all ready for him to be a Norris contender (then he got injured). I give him a 20% chance of coming here. Not good, but not impossible either.

Here's my predictions: Hasek around midnight. July 1 - Bertuzzi early around $2.5-3 with incentives - Schneider to East team - Markov comes for around $2.5 - Wings sign mid-level UFA forward for around $3mil (Kozlov) OR - Wings sign high-level UFA (Smyth/Blake/Forsberg/Souray), In case of another forward being signed, Lilja becomes regular 6th dman.

I love the Wings. They definitely stand out in the crowd. No other team owns red like the Wings. I also dig the Wild jerseys (maroon and the green) they have an old school feel. I guess I am partial to simple over eye catching. I always liked the black Kings jersey from the Gretzky era. I hate the Nash mustard, the BJs, and the Panthers.

Pronger has a Cup, Zetterberg doesn't. That thought alone makes me queezy.

Maybe he is rejecting the 5 years, not the 5 mil.

Bert may not take 2-3 mil to sign. There may be a lower number with incentives to add up to 2-3. I think both can fit, and BTW, I don't see Schneider coming back at 4.5 or 5 million.

I'm not worried until July 1.

Jiri Fischer is a UFA on July 1. Does anyone know if the Wings will be making an offer? Or does he have to pass a physical to be offered a contract? What is his status? Can he be signed?

Yzerman may have more fighting majors than Bertuzzi. I'll say it again, he has never been a fighter. Lidstrom and Maltby will fight, but they are not fighters.

I don't see him dropping the gloves, he never really has been a fighter. But I want to see driving to the net and more checking on the scoring lines. Also, for him to be an option for a one timer between the circles would be nice, but may be too much to expect from him.

He isn't signed yet. He wants to play, but who is going to pay his salary is the question.

W_D's Max Numbers Hasek- $1.5 mil (health is an issue, no matter how well he played) Schneider- $3.5 mil (you're old, and injury prone) Markov- $2 mil (you fill a gap well, but are a dime a dozen) Bert- $2.5 mil (I want it to work out, but don't get greedy, you're back can't handle a fat wallet) I think if we lose Schneider and Markov, Sheldon Souray will be a possibility. Also, with the Nashville fire sale about to commence, we could pick up a Zidlicky or a Vishnevski or a Zanon for picks or a prospect. Any forward losses will be answered with a Devils pick up and no Hasek means a Oz-Howard 07-08.

Agreed. He has no downside, as opposed to Hudler who is very weak on defense. Although Hudler has amazing accuracy and power with his wrist shot.

In a word. No. In more words. Why should they get one? Anyone in that area is already a Leafs or Sabres fan. It would be like putting a team in Ann Arbor like one poster said, I live 5 miles from AA and I wouldn't go to the games unless they were playing the Wings.

I think Lilja could stay as a #6 d-man. He showed EXTREME improvement in the post this year and he was always there to kill a penalty if Nick and Cheli weren't on the ice. I think he is worth another shot. Markov and Kronwall are more expendable IMO, with the injury problems both have. Hudler and Kronwall and a pick may get a Shane Doan from a non-playoff Yotes team.... Qunicey isn't quite ready, so assuming that Lilja or Markov leave what are our D lines? Lidstrom-Kronwall Chelios-Schneider Lilja/Markov-Lebda Say Lilja and Markov go, what then? UFA or grind it out with Q until the trade deadline? Lidstrom-Kronwall Chelios-Schneider ???-Lebda
