I hate to be a negative Nancy, but I think Nick retires after his current contract runs out. Unless he is prepared to take a HUGE paycut. What else does he have to prove? He is the best d-man, he has 3 Cups, a Conn Smythe. Not every player is Chelios. 40 year old virgins are easier to come by than 40 year old defensemen. Either it's 1 year / 3 million dollar contracts until he retires (3 years max), or he's done after next season.

I need a list of the UFAs and RFAs. This site used to have it but it isn't up to date. Does anyone know where I can see one? Also, I know that Fischer is a UFA this year, anyone know the Wings' stance on him?

Thanks harold.

What do you need to get into Ferris State? Just a name right?

The pick is made before the post season. So SN's playoff performance doesn't matter.

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
Wings_Dynasty replied to Sleight's topic in General
Seniority doesn't matter. Columbus is more east, so they would go. I would much prefer the Wings seeing the Rangers, Bruins, Leafs, and Habs than just the Hawks. But that would leave the Hawks alone in the West. The question is, what new team would be placed in our division to replace them. All divisions have 5 teams. If Columbus leaves, that leaves the central with 4, and if Nashville is moved that leaves 3. So would KC be placed in our division and the new Canadian team since the proposed Hamilton team will not be able to be in the same division as the Maple Leafs (if they get past the rule where a team can't play that close to the Leafs). -
Big deal. I've seen worse. If it had happened to a classy player or marketable player (Lidstrom, Crosby, etc) I would mind more. But it happened to a nobody. Yeah, he has a Norris, but so does Pronger and that doesn't say much for the award. Niedermayer is a nobody in the sports world, so the only people really affected are Anaheim and Sens fans, which doesn't mean much from the reporting I have seen in the series thus far. Is there such a thing as a Ducks fan anyway, or are they all transplanted Kings fans? No injury, no big deal. For all we know Niedermayer whacked him in the back of the leg and called him a name and he got what he deserved.

Wings_Dynasty replied to a topic in General
Favorite All-Time Red Wings (non-active): 1. Fedorov 2. Yzerman 3. Shanahan Active: 1. Datsyuk 2. Lidstrom 3. Zetterberg / Cleary -

Lilja and Cleary will also stay, I see that I left them out of my original post. Also, with the ascension of Grigorenko, Hudler will be a 50/50 bet in a package deal for a trade.

Sooo, are you going to watch the Stanley Cup Finals?
Wings_Dynasty replied to Barrie's topic in General
I won't be watching and neither will the rest of America. I don't care who wins and neither does the rest of America. Neither team will make the play-offs next year and no dynasty team will ever happen again under the Bettman regime. -

Wings_Dynasty replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Wings win a close one, IN OT!!!! Wings 3 (Dats, Z, Draper (OT)) Ducks 2 (two random waddling puckers) GO WINGS GO!!! GO WINGS GO!!! GO WINGS GO!!! -
It will be a crime if Heatley aka "Killer" gets a Cup before Hank.

Yes, I have blmaed players and coaches in the past for games lost. I would blame Lilja, but his goal kept us in it and they cancel eaach other out; and adding his stepped up play, he comes out ahead IMO. However, no one player is to blame for yesterday's loss, there was 30 seconds of play where the Wings did not have control. 2 goals in 30 seconds. One goal in a 6 on 4 situation that should not have happened, no one player (Franzen) can be blamed, in that situaiton, where icing is the PERFECT play, no one could do what was necessary. The other goal, no defensive help for Dom, all the Wings were concentrating on scoring a goal, a bad decision while still in your own zone. The Wings were the better team yesterday. They can still win, although the odds are not in their favor. Everyone keeps saying "remember 02 vs. Colorado." I remember, the Wings were a much better team in 02. The Avs were also a much better team than the present Ducks. It can be done. Personally, I give them a 2:1 shot at winning the next 2 games. The key is to play 60:00 minutes of hockey, not 59:30.

Don't forget Franzen. Huge goals when we needed them and big hits. Really good considering that he is rarely mentioned in the media, even compared to Cleary and Lilja.
-
Dom- Vezina worthy performance this year. Wings best hope for a Stanley Cup. Oz- best back-up in the league. If it ain't broke...

He screwed with the lines for game 3 and it worked. With Pronger out he should have reverted back to the power lines that worked against CGY and SJ. It's no one player's fault, but Babcock has to push the Ducks when they are next to a cliff, not try to talk them off. He had a chance to bury the Ducks with overwhelming power against their weakened defense and he blew it by keeping his "balanced" lines together.
-
Don't agree with me, it gets you no where.
-
Yes, we always jump for joy after a win. But, after a loss, the best thing to do is discuss why we thought they lost and get t out of our systems. Holding it in causes murders.
-
Wrong lines Babcock. Should have changed them back. D-Z-H could have been the answer tonight with Pronger out.

I officially have man-crushes on the following players: Homer- 2 goals, 1 assist, 13 stitches. Man-crush status reached. Dominator- regained his legendary name and status. Shut-out "top seed" in media's eyes. Man-crush status reached. Adding to the existing Man-crushes of Cleary, Datsyuk, Z, Lidstrom, Lilja, and Franzen. Close to man-crush status, confident they will be soon: Bert- flukey goal last game, but a back-breaker to the Ducks. Throws his weight around and commands defensive attention from the Ducks. Sammy- you still make mistakes, but you act like a BMF and that is always a + against the Ducks IMO. Give the character guys some love people, stars don't win Cups, TEAMS do. This is the closest we have been to the 1997 Wings since the 97 Wings. GOOD VIBES!!!
