My Big 10 love doesn't go that far. My two favorite teams are Purdue and whoever plays Ohio State. So I'm positively giddy! The obnoxious OSU fans I work with will be SILENT tomorrow...and I couldn't be happier.

I don't really think Florida is significantly weaker than anybody. Just sayin'...

ESPN is reporting that Matt Millen will return next season...I feel sorry for you Lions fans.

I read a comment somewhere yesterday, I think on CNN, that said in effect, "why are African-American basketball players called out for this behavior, while there's nothing wrong with white hockey players doing the same thing." That frosted my cookies. If a brawl in the NHL took place the way this one did, with it spilling into the stands, coaches getting involved, and third-men-in left and right, you can be guaranteed that there would be fines, suspensions, and maybe even expulsions, along with a giant, permanent stain on the league.

I don't think he'll be considered one-dimensional by his senior year...word is that he has a good arm. I'm pretty certain he'll be a Heisman candidate before his college career is over.

Anybody else not getting the Broncos/Chiefs game? I have NFL Network, but they switched to alternate programming at 8:00...so I'm stuck watching the Predators/Canucks game.

They're in the process of. They're losing 17-3 in the 4th.

AND Purdue. We beat MSU, Indiana, and Illinois this season.

Being and alumnus and fan of a Big Ten also-ran, I'm hoping for ultimate chaos in the BCS, so much so that the drumbeat for a playoff becomes self-sustaining and unstoppable. I'm pulling for extreme controversy. The two possible events that would cause maximum controversy, the way I see it, are: 1.) Michigan wins a rematch with OSU in the BCS Title Game. or, 2.) Notre Dame wins out and goes to the title game, disregarding the fact that Michigan demolished them earlier in the year. What scenarios do you guys see as being apt to create the most chaos?

Congrats Tigers fans on the 2-1 series lead! Hopefully y'all can finish them off without having to go back to NY.

My alma mater (Purdue) held in there against Notre Dame, but our defense is just too young and inexperienced right now. Curtis Painter threw for 399 yards and Selwyn Lymon had 238 yards receiving...we thrashed the ND defense...but didn't complete drives like ND did. If the defense was a little more seasoned and skilled we'd be damned dangerous.

I like the way you think! I'm a Colts fan of over 20 years (i.e. not a bandwagoner!), and I'm hoping we don't miss our window of opportunity...I think it's starting to close rapidly. This team cannot afford one major injury this season. We need Manning, Harrison, Wayne, and Stokley all 100% this season. I think RB by committee will work this year, and I was very impressed with Addai catching from the backfield in the first preseason game. The defense needs to also stay healthy and get another year of experience under it's belt. Hopefully Freeney, Simon, and Mathis up front along with Sanders and Doss out back can cover for the gaping holes at linebacker. Also, I think the addition of Vinatieri cannot be understated. Vanderjagt was a freakin' headcase who was always incapable of making the big kick in the playoffs...it happened more than once. The change at K can be absolutely decisive. As far as I'm concerned, it's this year or never.

I just learned that my next vehicle (the model doesn't enter production until next month) will get around 5 mpg better than I expected (and about 5 mpg better than my current gas-sucker gets)! Reason to celebrate. Too bad I won't have it until this winter...

This is the most desirable scenario, but I'm just concerned at what would go the other way. I just have a feeling we're going to need to keep our high draft picks for the next 3-4 years. I think we can count out Draper or Maltby ever getting traded, for better or worse. Those two seem to be legacy players, engrained in the team and close with management. I think they're too close to the front office to ever get moved.

I survived a lot better than many others around me, so I'm thankful for that. The power stayed on, and I got no water in the basement...lots of others in my subdivision did get water. With more in the forecast for today, my mom and dad drove all the way from Fort Wayne and let me borrow a generator and a few extra pumps until I can get a permanent backup pump installed. There's lots of standing water and flooded roads around here today...it looks like most of the nasty weather will be south of me today, thankfully.

Do all Nike uniforms have to suck now? Wow those are awful.

I just got 7" of rain in 4 hours, the power's been flickering, been under a tornado warning for about an hour, and the sump pump is barely keeping up. Sooooo...life sucks right now.

I just read the headline "Schwarzenegger Orders Troops to Border" on another website. Although it's obviously about the National Guard helping the Border Patrol, the headline still sounds surreal.

Unless they fix that O-line, it won't matter who the quarterback is.

Me enjoying life at work...

Man it was a nice day today! I'm visiting my family in Fort Wayne and it was around 75 today with sunny skies...a small line of storms rolled through about 9 this morning and after that it was beautiful. It was a little too windy though...there were gusts to 40mph this afternoon. Tomorrow should be around 80 with sun and lighter winds...

All of the Air Force's (and subsequently the Air Guard's) F-16s look the same: different shades of grey. The only permitted use of color is the relatively small squadron logo on the vertical stabilizer.
