Saw him play tonight. 1. His team is bad. 2. The scouting reports are spot on as far as I could see. He's got NHL IQ and tools right now, but his compete level is an issue. -
Patience. That would be another way to put it. There's not a more patient GM out there. Sometimes to a fault. Babcock would probably fire himself before Holland had a chance.

Yes. Oilers need to start trading from their strengths to address their weaknesses. And they need to start winning soon. Edit: Doesn't make much sense to trade for Vanek, IMO. Scoring shouldn't be an issue in Edmonton.

While I love the hell out of Nyquist, and think Tatar desrves a spot, those two + Weiss can not match the skill of the Hawks 2nd line. But is that your answer? Goose - Weiss - Tatar are good enough to be our 2nd line this year? I want to hear you say it.

I remember a time when LGWs was dominated by people who complained that the Wings weren't big or gritty enough. I have to ask: do you really think that a 2nd line of Nyquist - Weiss - Tatar has enough size to consistently get it done against other teams 2nd line and 2nd pairing D-men?

Comparing styles? Filpulla "looks" like the better hockey player. He's has better high-end speed. He's more graceful. Better hands. More patience with the puck. And guess why? Because he plays on the perimeter where he has room. Weiss looks sloppier and more chaotic/jumbled out there because he's trying to make plays in the slot and around the net. The "hard" areas. I'll take Weiss' blue collar skill over Filpulla's photoshoot finess anyway. And just wait until the playoffs..... -
