First off, we're all LGWs buddies here. This is all just specualtion and personal preference. Secondly, I have never underrated Franson in any of these discussions. I don't think I'm overrating Yandle either. Like I said, Yandle would probably cost a 1st + Larkin + a mid-level prospect . Franosn would cost less, but make no mistake, it would take a 1st for Detroit to get him over Nashville or Anahaim. Again, just speculating.

Franson is inferior to Yandle. Franson is a rental. Franson has suitors in the West the Leafs would probably rather trade with. Rset assured, if Anaheim or Nashville are offering a 2nd +, Detroit will have to offer a 1st +. So if you want to talk about overpayment, then Franson's your guy.

Because a) it's probably only overpayement in the eyes of Wings fans, b) he is exactly what this team needs on the back end, c) he's available and d) Arizona probably wants to move him to the East which means Detroit has less competition compared to trying to get a guy like Franson from a butthurt original six/division rival. We've bitched a moaned about adding an offensive, puck-moving D-man for three ******* years now. Illitch landed a jet in Suter's back yard and Chelios was probably flying the thing. Now we have the guy we need and he's available. Holland has done (mostly well) hanging on to picks and the organization has done a great job of drafting and devoping. They have a s***-ton of prosepects. Good prospects. Make a damn trade now. Take a stab at a couple of post-season runs while Zetterberg, Pavel, and Kronwall are still good players and are healthy. How hard is it to get behind this? Or are you mad because I said I might be OK moving Smith?

I'd rather give up prospects/picks than any player off the current roster. Although I'd be OK with losing Smith. But not Helm. I'd also rather trade Larkin than Sheahan. But I'm very high on Sheahan and Larkin is four years away from being a Wing.
